Air Tahiti, the domestic airline that links Tahiti with the outer islands, has taken delivery of an ATR 72-600 with no economy seats at all. ATR says it is only the second airline to fly the plane in this layout. The details are in [ATR's October 13 announcement](https://www.atr-aircraft.com/news/air-tahiti-takes-delivery-of-its-atr-72-600-highline-all-business-class/).","textStyle":"body","layout":"text"},{"role":"body","format":"markdown","text":"The aircraft will launch a new service Air Tahiti calls \"Air Tahiti Signature.\" ATR says the first commercial flight is planned for December 2026. The service will connect Tahiti with Bora Bora and Raiatea-Tahaa, among other islands.\n\n## What the cabin looks like\n\nA standard ATR 72 carries around 70 passengers, four abreast. This one has 26 seats. They sit one on each side of the aisle, so every passenger has direct aisle access and nobody climbs over a neighbor. ATR says some rows are paired for couples who want to sit together, which makes sense on a route full of honeymooners.\n\nEach seat gets its own storage space and USB-A and USB-C charging. ATR has also fitted what it calls an executive-style ceiling, meant to make the cabin feel taller and brighter. The interior was designed with Air Tahiti and borrows from Polynesian culture.\n\nThe plane maker calls the package its HighLine All-Business Class. The first airline to fly it was Berjaya Air, which put one into service earlier this year.\n\nWhat the release does not give is just as useful to know. Neither ATR nor the airline has published fares, a schedule, or exactly which flights the plane will fly in December. ATR says the airline will add \"dedicated ground services\" and a better onboard offer, but it does not describe either. If you are planning a trip for the holidays, check Air Tahiti's own site before you count on this cabin.\n\n## Why it matters for travelers\n\nMost visitors reach French Polynesia on a long-haul flight into Faa'a airport in Papeete. Some make that trip in a lie-flat seat. Until now, the connection to Bora Bora has been a step down, in a standard turboprop cabin with economy seating. A premium cabin on that last leg closes the gap between the long-haul trip and the resort at the end of it.\n\nIt is also a sign of where regional flying is heading. Small premium cabins used to be rare outside jets. Now turboprop makers are pitching high-end layouts to airlines that serve resort islands and short business routes. The appeal is simple. On a short island hop, space and privacy matter more than a meal, and a 26-seat cabin can sell well when demand is mostly from upscale tourists.\n\nAir Tahiti plans to use the aircraft on both scheduled routes and charters. ATR says the plane is part of a fleet renewal program and extends a relationship between the two companies that goes back nearly four decades.\n\n## Lounges and connections\n\nFrench Polynesia is an overseas collectivity of France, and the main long-haul link to Paris runs through Los Angeles. [Air France](https://www.loungefrog.com/airlines/af) is one of the carriers on that route. Lounge Frog does not yet list a lounge at Papeete, so we cannot tell you where Air Tahiti Signature passengers will wait or whether the new ground service includes one. Air Tahiti has not said.\n\nIf you are routing through Los Angeles on your way to Tahiti, our [Los Angeles airport page](https://www.loungefrog.com/airports/lax) lists every lounge at LAX and who gets in. For Paris, see our [Charles de Gaulle guide](https://www.loungefrog.com/airports/cdg).","textStyle":"body","layout":"text"}]}
