Air Transat is adding weekly nonstops from Québec City to Lyon and to Barcelona for the 2027 season.\n\n[Transat announced the routes](https://www.transat.com/en-CA/corporate/media/news-releases/124624) on October 28. The Barcelona flight will be the first nonstop between Québec City and Spain, according to the airline.","textStyle":"body","layout":"text"},{"role":"body","format":"markdown","text":"## The new flights\n\nBoth routes are seasonal and run once a week.","textStyle":"body","layout":"text"},{"role":"htmltable","html":"<table><tr><th>Route</th><th>Day</th><th>First flight</th><th>Last flight</th></tr><tr><td>Québec City–Lyon</td><td>Tuesday</td><td>June 8, 2027</td><td>Oct. 26, 2027</td></tr><tr><td>Québec City–Barcelona</td><td>Monday</td><td>June 14, 2027</td><td>Oct. 25, 2027</td></tr></table>","layout":"text"},{"role":"body","format":"markdown","text":"Transat did not say which aircraft it will use. Its fleet is made up of Airbus A321LRs, A321s and A330s, so travelers can expect a narrowbody or a widebody depending on demand. Air Transat sells a premium cabin, Club Class, on its A321LRs and A330s, though the release does not say what cabins these flights will have.\n\nTransat also said its Québec City–Puerto Plata service in the Dominican Republic will now run all year. In summer it flies once a week on Mondays.\n\n## Five European nonstops from Québec City\n\nQuébec City already has Air Transat nonstops to Paris, Marseille and Nantes. With Lyon and Barcelona added, the airline will fly to five European cities from Québec City in summer 2027.\n\nThat matters for a mid-sized airport. Until now, travelers from the Québec City region who wanted Spain had to connect, usually in Montréal or in Europe. A weekly nonstop will not suit every schedule, but it removes a long drive or an extra flight for many vacationers.\n\nLyon makes sense too. France is an obvious market for French-speaking Québec, and Lyon gives travelers a gateway to the Alps, the Rhône Valley and Burgundy that avoids Paris.\n\nSebastian Ponce, Transat's chief revenue officer, called the two routes \"a new milestone for Air Transat in Québec City.\"\n\n## What a once-weekly flight means for planning\n\nA single weekly flight in each direction shapes your trip. In most cases you will be booking stays of one or two weeks, or more. If your plans change, there is no later flight that day to switch to.\n\nWeekly service also makes it easy to build open-jaw trips. You could fly into Barcelona on a Monday and home from Lyon on a Tuesday, or the reverse, with ground or rail travel in between. Compare fares for both options before you book.\n\nAir Transat is a leisure airline, and it bundles many of its flights into vacation packages. Its main bases are Montréal-Trudeau and Toronto Pearson, so Québec City routes like these tend to run at lower frequency than its big-city flights.\n\n## Lounges at Québec City\n\nLounge options at [Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport](https://www.loungefrog.com/airports/yqb) are limited. Lounge Frog lists the [Air Canada Café](https://www.loungefrog.com/lounges/yqb-air-canada-cafe), which is tied to Air Canada's Maple Leaf Lounge access rules. Air Transat passengers should not expect to get in on a Transat ticket.\n\nAt the other end, Lyon's lounges include the [Salon Mont Blanc](https://www.loungefrog.com/lounges/lys-salon-mont-blanc), which takes DragonPass, and the [Salon Confluence](https://www.loungefrog.com/lounges/lys-salon-confluence), used by Air France and SkyTeam. Barcelona has a wider choice. See our [Lyon airport guide](https://www.loungefrog.com/airports/lys) and [Barcelona airport guide](https://www.loungefrog.com/airports/bcn) to check which lounges take your card or membership.\n\nFor more on the airline, its fleet and its rewards program, see our [Air Transat airline page](https://www.loungefrog.com/airlines/ts).","textStyle":"body","layout":"text"}]}
