The extra departures could help with family visits and summer vacations, but they do not cover the entire festive season.\n\nIn its [Oct. 20 announcement](https://www.emirates.com/media-centre/home-for-the-holidays-emirates-to-scale-up-flights-to-durban-for-festive-season/), the airline outlined 14 additional flights between Dubai and Durban across December 2026 and January 2027. Travelers should compare the dates on both legs before building a trip around the expanded schedule.\n\n## When the extra flights operate\n\nThe second daily flight is scheduled for Dec. 17–23, 2026, and Jan. 2–8, 2027. Emirates says it will use a three-class Boeing 777.\n\nFlight EK2535 is scheduled to leave Dubai at 4 a.m. and arrive in Durban at 10:30 a.m. The return, EK2536, leaves Durban at 12:15 p.m. and reaches Dubai at 10:30 p.m. All times are local. Existing daily flights EK775 and EK776 remain on the schedule.\n\nThose windows create a useful distinction for holiday planning. A traveler flying out before Christmas and returning in early January may find an extra option in both directions. Someone leaving on Christmas Eve or returning later in January should not assume the second flight is available.\n\n## Compare the whole connection\n\nFor passengers starting outside Dubai, the most useful flight is the one that fits the full journey. An extra departure can shorten a layover, or it can introduce a longer wait if the incoming flight arrives at the wrong time.\n\nCompare total travel time, the number of stops, and the arrival date alongside price. Check whether a more convenient Durban flight requires an overnight stay during the connection. If it does, include that hotel and any transfers in the comparison.\n\nA morning arrival in Durban may also affect the first hotel night. Ask whether your room will be ready, or plan a low-pressure arrival day with a place to leave bags. Families meeting relatives can share the flight number rather than relying only on a screenshot of the itinerary.\n\nThe return departure deserves the same attention. Work backward from airport check-in to decide when to leave your accommodation. A midday flight can still require an early start from a destination outside the city.\n\n## What to check before paying\n\nThe announcement does not establish a standard seat layout or a specific lounge entitlement for every booking. Review the cabin and fare conditions displayed for the flight you choose. A three-class aircraft description alone is not enough to identify every feature of your seat.\n\nFor a long connection, use [Lounge Frog's Emirates page](https://www.loungefrog.com/airlines/ek) to research lounge options, then confirm access with the operator and your ticket or membership. Include guest charges if traveling with family.\n\nMore flights also do not guarantee a lower fare. Price the complete round trip with bags and any seat choices you need. Check the terms for changing each ticket, especially if different travelers are booking separately.\n\nThe practical gain is a wider choice of departure times on specific dates. Keep the two operating windows in view, and choose the itinerary that makes the entire holiday journey easier.","textStyle":"body","layout":"text"}]}
