JAL's international award time sale cuts about 30% off the usual mileage for selected routes, and it is open to [JAL Mileage Bank](https://www.loungefrog.com/programs/jal-mileage-bank) members in every region, not just in Japan.\n\nThe deal blew up on Japanese miles X. A [post from @ana_mile2016](https://x.com/ana_mile2016/status/2108042350673166777) showing Narita to Frankfurt in JAL business class for 38,500 miles, down from the usual 55,000, with eight seats open on the date shown, pulled in more than 110,000 views. In a [follow-up](https://x.com/ana_mile2016/status/2108706872559865935), the same account reported Haneda to Paris in business for 39,900 miles plus ¥56,550, and said Frankfurt had plenty of space.\n\n## The key rules\n\n* **Booking window:** October 8 through October 31, 2026, Japan time.\n* **No registration needed.** Just book an eligible award.\n* **Saver seats only.** The discount applies only when regular award seats are available. Award PLUS seats are excluded.\n* **JAL flights only.** The flights must be operated by JAL. Itineraries that include a JAL domestic connection are included.\n* **Taxes and fuel surcharges are extra.** They are not discounted, and on Europe routes they add up.\n\n## The sale prices\n\nAll prices are one way, from Japan.\n\n**Economy**\n\n* Taipei: 6,300 miles, down from 9,000. From Narita, Kansai and Chubu only, not Haneda.\n* Guam: 7,000 miles, down from 10,000.\n* London and Paris: 18,900 miles, down from 27,000.\n* Helsinki and Frankfurt: 16,100 miles, down from 23,000.\n* North America: 18,900 miles. Boston is excluded.\n\n**Premium economy**\n\n* London and Paris: 28,000 miles.\n* Helsinki and Frankfurt: 26,600 miles.\n\n**Business class**\n\n* Paris: 39,900 miles.\n* Helsinki and Frankfurt: 38,500 miles, down from 55,000.\n* Guam: 16,100 miles.\n\nTwo catches stand out. London business class is not part of the sale, and North America is economy only.\n\n## When you can fly\n\nThe sale has different travel windows by region:\n\n* **Taipei:** October 9 to October 31, 2026.\n* **Guam:** October 9, 2026, to January 31, 2027.\n* **Europe:** November 1, 2026, to February 28, 2027.\n* **North America:** October 9, 2026, to February 28, 2027.\n\n## Is it worth it?\n\nFor business class to Europe, yes, if you can find the seats. Saving 16,500 miles on a one-way to Frankfurt is real value, and JAL's long-haul business class is among the best in the sky. Winter in Helsinki or Frankfurt is not everyone's dream trip, but flexible travelers can do very well here.\n\nThe catch is the cash. Fuel surcharges and taxes on JAL Europe awards are steep, as the ¥56,000-plus cash figures in that follow-up post show. Price the full award before you transfer any points.\n\nBefore you fly, JAL's lounges are part of the appeal. I'd read about the [reopened JAL First Class Lounge at Haneda's North Wing](https://www.loungefrog.com/news/jal-haneda-north-wing-first-class-lounge-reopens-october-2026) and our [guide to the best airport lounges in Japan](https://www.loungefrog.com/news/best-airport-lounges-japan-2026).\n\n## One more catch for Asia Miles members\n\nIf you were planning to book JAL with [Cathay Pacific](https://www.loungefrog.com/airlines/cx) Asia Miles instead, there is a problem. LoyaltyLobby reported on Friday that Asia Miles has suspended Japan Airlines awards, effective immediately, and the reason is not known. This sale is for JAL Mileage Bank miles, so that suspension doesn't affect it, but it does mean one of the other popular ways to book JAL seats is closed for now.\n\nThe sale ends October 31. If you have JAL miles sitting idle, this is the month to use them.\n\n## Related reading\n\n* [JAL kills the JGC Premier name.
