Plaza Premium Group says it has opened a Plaza Premium Lounge at Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam. It is the company's first lounge in Tanzania, and it opened with a release dated Nov. 2, 2026.\n\n## Where to find it\n\nThe lounge is in Terminal 3, in the international departures area near Gate 6. Terminal 3 is the airport's main international terminal. That means you'll need to be flying out internationally and through security to use it.\n\nPlaza Premium says the space covers 336 square meters, or about 3,600 square feet. It holds up to 86 guests. The company says the design mixes local cultural touches with a modern look.\n\n## A menu built around Tanzanian food\n\nFood is the main selling point here. Plaza Premium uses a \"Proudly Local\" approach, and this menu leans on Swahili coastal cooking and Tanzania's spice trade history.\n\nHot dishes named in the release include:\n\n* **Beef Mishikaki**, skewers marinated in garlic and ginger, served with kachumbari, a fresh tomato and onion salad\n* **Kuku Wa Kupaka**, chicken braised in a spiced coconut and yogurt sauce\n* **Mayai ya Mchuzi wa Nazi**, a breakfast dish of boiled eggs in a creamy coconut curry with warm chapati\n\nThere are local sweets and baked goods too. The release lists a Tanzanian coconut and cardamom cake, Vitumbua (coconut rice cakes) and mini coconut Maandazi, which are Swahili doughnuts. It also names two street snacks: Mabuyu, which are baobab seeds in a red sugar glaze, and Achari, a tangy and sweet mango pickle.\n\nPlaza Premium says the lounge serves wild forest honey from local beekeepers in Tanzania's miombo woodlands.\n\n## What else is inside\n\nPlaza Premium says the lounge has separate areas for solo travelers, families and business travelers. It lists:\n\n* Lounge seating with food and drink\n* Quiet zones for resting\n* Multi-faith prayer rooms\n* Workstations, high-speed Wi-Fi and charging points\n\nThe release does not mention showers, a bar or nap rooms, so don't count on them.\n\n## How to get in\n\nThe lounge is open every day. Plaza Premium says you can book a lounge pass in advance at [plazapremiumlounge.com](https://www.plazapremiumlounge.com) or buy one at the door. The release does not list prices or opening hours.\n\nIt also does not say whether [Priority Pass](https://lounge-frog-api.onrender.com/api/v1/go/77243838-574a-4032-9c19-8ef6a86c5798?site=lounge), credit cards or airline tickets get you in. Many Plaza Premium lounges around the world take memberships like those, but each lounge sets its own rules. Check the lounge's listing on the Plaza Premium site or your membership app before you go.\n\n## Why this one matters\n\nDar es Salaam is the main international gateway to Tanzania. Many visitors pass through on their way to Zanzibar, safaris in the Serengeti or climbs on Mount Kilimanjaro. Plaza Premium says Africa is a key growth area for the company, and it calls Tanzania's travel and tourism market fast-growing.\n\nPlaza Premium Group says it runs the largest network of airport lounges in the world. It lists 14 brands at about 600 airports, including Plaza Premium lounges and Aerotel transit hotels.\n\nBecause passes are sold at the door, the lounge is an option even for travelers without elite status or a premium ticket. You can see other lounges at the airport on our [Dar es Salaam airport page](https://www.loungefrog.com/airports/dar), and browse the company's lounges on our [Plaza Premium page](https://www.loungefrog.com/programs/plaza-premium).\n\nThe details above come from Plaza Premium Group's [press release](https://www.plazapremiumgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/11/PPG-Tanzania-Grand-Opening-PR_revised.pdf).","textStyle":"body","layout":"text"}]}
