The program is called Plaza Petit, and the company [announced it on October 20](https://www.plazapremiumgroup.com/media-release/) from its Hong Kong base.\n\nThe idea is simple. A lounge is built for adults who want a quiet seat, a meal and a shower. Kids often find it boring, and parents end up pacing the room or walking the terminal instead. Plaza Petit sets aside a zone inside the lounge where children can read, draw and eat food made for them, while parents stay in sight.\n\n## Where it opens first\n\nPlaza Premium says the first four installations open within October 2026:\n\n* **Hong Kong:** the [Plaza Premium Lounge near Gate 60](https://www.loungefrog.com/lounges/hkg-plaza-premium-lounge-gate-60) in Terminal 1 international departures\n* **Toronto Pearson:** the [Plaza Premium Lounge in Terminal 3 international departures](https://www.loungefrog.com/lounges/yyz-plaza-premium-lounge-t3-international)\n* **London Gatwick:** the [Plaza Premium Lounge in the North Terminal](https://www.loungefrog.com/lounges/lgw-plaza-premium-lounge-north)\n* **London Heathrow:** the company's Aerotel transit hotel\n\nThe release does not give a firm opening date for each site. If you are counting on the kids' area for a trip in the next few weeks, ask the lounge before you go.","textStyle":"body","layout":"text"},{"role":"body","format":"markdown","text":"## What is in the kids' zone\n\nThe company describes the program in a few parts. The reading corner comes from Room to Read, an education charity that works on child literacy. Each zone gets a \"Story Corner\" with physical books in several languages, chosen by age and swapped out every quarter. Families can also use the charity's free digital library, Literacy Cloud, which has storybooks in 48 languages. That is handy on the plane, too.\n\nFor play, children get travel-themed activity sets, coloring sheets, crayons and collectible stickers tied to destinations. The food side covers a children's menu, kid-sized tableware, baby-food warming and seasonal treats. The furniture is light oak with rounded edges and child-height seats.\n\nEach installation also has a donation point for Room to Read. Plaza Premium does not mention any fee for using the zone, and nothing in the release suggests it costs extra on top of normal lounge entry.\n\nRoom to Read chief executive Dr. Geetha Murali tied the program to the charity's core point: reading is something children need for travel itself, from following airport signs to getting lost in a book on board.\n\n## Who can use it\n\nPlaza Petit sits inside existing lounges, so the normal entry rules apply. The release does not change who gets in. At these lounges that usually means paying for a visit, holding a [Plaza Premium](https://www.loungefrog.com/programs/plaza-premium) membership or using a card-linked network such as [Priority Pass](https://www.loungefrog.com/programs/priority-pass), [DragonPass](https://www.loungefrog.com/programs/dragonpass) or [LoungeKey](https://www.loungefrog.com/programs/loungekey). Child pricing and age rules vary by lounge and by network, so check them before you arrive. Our guide to [Priority Pass with children](https://www.loungefrog.com/news/priority-pass-with-children-read-the-age-rule-for-the-exact-lounge) explains why the exact lounge matters.","textStyle":"body","layout":"text"},{"role":"photo","URL":"https://pub-fac99da959e344fe99d810d309cef7df.r2.dev/photos/article/ba1fdff7-4a1b-40df-932a-e2cc94ae957d/b9b4860c85f7798c746742164358113a.jpg","caption":"The Plaza Premium Lounge in London Gatwick's North Terminal, another first Plaza Petit site (photo shows the lounge, not the new kids' zone) · Plaza Premium Lounge","accessibilityCaption":"The Plaza Premium Lounge in London Gatwick's North Terminal, another first Plaza Petit site","layout":"photo"},{"role":"caption","text":"The Plaza Premium Lounge in London Gatwick's North Terminal, another first Plaza Petit site (photo shows the lounge, not the new kids' zone) · Plaza Premium Lounge","textStyle":"caption","layout":"text"},{"role":"body","format":"markdown","text":"## What comes next\n\nPlaza Premium says Plaza Petit will follow at Dubai, Helsinki, Jakarta, Jeddah, Kuala Lumpur, Macau, Muscat, Phnom Penh and Rome. Later phases will add more lounges and Aerotels. The company says the features will vary by site, so a Rome zone may not match the one in Hong Kong. It has not given dates for any of the later openings.\n\nWhat is new here is a single, branded family program across a large third-party lounge network. For families who rely on Priority Pass or a day pass rather than airline status, that could make a real difference on long travel days.\n\nIf you are flying with children through Hong Kong, Toronto or London this fall, see our guide to [family-friendly airport lounges](https://www.loungefrog.com/news/family-friendly-airport-lounges-kids) and our lists of the [best Toronto Pearson lounges](https://www.loungefrog.com/news/best-toronto-pearson-airport-lounges-2026) and [best Hong Kong airport lounges](https://www.loungefrog.com/news/best-hong-kong-airport-lounges-2026).","textStyle":"body","layout":"text"}]}
