Card comparison

Altitude Reserve vs Citi Prestige: which lounge card fits?

Both cards unlock only Priority Pass. The $400 Altitude Reserve caps your visits per year. The $495 Prestige does not carry that note. That cap is the whole decision.

One network, two sets of rules

U.S. Bank's Altitude Reserve and Citi's Prestige both unlock exactly one lounge program, Priority Pass. Neither has an airline lounge or an issuer-run network to fall back on. So the lounges you can enter are the same lounges with either card.

The difference is in the conditions. The Altitude Reserve's Priority Pass access comes with a limit on visits per year. The Prestige's does not carry that condition in our data. For an occasional flyer the cap may never bite. For a weekly traveler it will.

Fees

The Altitude Reserve is $400 a year. The Prestige is $495. You are paying $95 more for Priority Pass without a visit cap, and that is the trade in one sentence.

Which traveler each card suits

If you fly a handful of times a year, the Altitude Reserve's cap is probably irrelevant and the cheaper fee wins. Count your likely lounge visits honestly, including return legs and connections, before deciding the limit does not apply to you.

If you fly often, or you travel with a companion who needs a guest entry each time, the Prestige's uncapped access is worth the extra $95. Running out of visits in September is an unpleasant way to discover the difference.

Confirm the numbers first

The exact visit allowance on the Altitude Reserve, and guest charges on both cards, are set by U.S. Bank and Citi rather than by this site. Check the current terms before applying. Then look up your next three departure airports here. If a Priority Pass lounge appears in each terminal, both cards work. The cap decides which one. Lounge scores follow the methodology.
