At a glance
United opened its LAX Polaris Lounge in Terminal 7 in 2019, the fifth in the Polaris network. It covers about 12,000 sq ft one floor above the concourse between gates 73 and 75A. The layout has a social side and a quiet side. The west half has a curved bar, sofas, semi-private seats, and floor-to-ceiling windows facing the sunset. The other half has a rotunda overlooking the concourse with a wine wall and a buffet, plus the dining room, private daybeds with Saks Fifth Avenue bedding, phone booths, and shower suites stocked with Perricone MD products. The highlight is the sit-down dining room, which has an à la carte menu (the made-to-order Polaris burger is the signature dish) alongside a full buffet. All drinks are free, including Laurent-Perrier Champagne and a seasonal cocktail list. Power is easy to find, with more than 270 outlets for about 140 seats. You can use it before departure, during a connection, or on arrival with a same-day United Polaris ticket. Basic business fares no longer get in, and United has tightened the rules for Star Alliance partner passengers too, so check the guest and access notes before you plan on it.
