Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 9 (178 seats)
178 seats: 44 good, 17 mixed, 12 to avoid
Best seats
- Rows 2–4, seats A and F (First Class): first Class window seat away from the front galley and lavatory.
- Rows 2–4, seats C and D (First Class): first Class aisle seat: wider recliner, easy to get up without climbing past anyone.
- Row 6, seats A and F (Premium Class): premium Class bulkhead window, the first row behind First Class: 4 inches more legroom than Main Cabin and early off the plane, though bags go overhead for takeoff and landing.
- Row 6, seats C and D (Premium Class): premium Class bulkhead aisle seat right behind First Class, with Premium Class legroom and nobody reclining into you.
Seats to avoid
- Row 15, seats A, B, C, D, E and F (Main Cabin): row in front of the overwing exits: recline is likely limited (Alaska's drawing doesn't say), and it has no exit-row legroom of its own.
- Row 32, seats A, B and C (Main Cabin): last row on this side, against the lavatories Alaska draws behind it: recline is likely limited and the lavatory queue forms by your seat.
- Row 34, seats D, E and F (Main Cabin): last row of the aircraft, against the rear lavatory and galley: recline is likely limited, with galley noise and the lavatory queue beside you.
Copa Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 9 (737 MAX 9-B, 174 seats)
174 seats: 36 good, 12 mixed, 12 to avoid
Best seats
- Row 1, seats A, B, C and D (Dreams Business Class): front row of Dreams Business: a full-flat seat with a 16-inch screen, and the first served; the forward galley and lavatory likely sit just ahead, though Copa's map doesn't draw them.
- Rows 2–3, seats A, B, C and D (Dreams Business Class): dreams Business: a full-flat seat in a 2-2 cabin with a 16-inch touch screen, USB ports and a power outlet, as Copa describes it.
- Rows 6–8, seats A, B, C, D, E and F (Economy Extra): economy Extra: more legroom and more recline than the Main Cabin, with a 10-inch touch screen, near the front for a quick exit.
- Row 18, seats A, B, C, D, E and F (Main Cabin): second over-wing exit row: extra legroom and normal recline (likely). You must be willing and able to help in an emergency.
Seats to avoid
- Row 12, seats A, B, C, D, E and F (Main Cabin): row in front of the over-wing exits: recline is likely limited, and it gets none of the exit row's legroom.
- Row 35, seats A, B, C, D, E and F (Main Cabin): last row, against the restrooms and galley Copa draws at the tail: queues and noise, and recline is likely limited.
