Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus status tiers

Royal Orchid Plus status is earned on Qualifying Miles flown on Thai and Star Alliance carriers, over 12 months or a longer 24-month window. Silver and Gold count miles on any fare; Platinum needs 80,000 miles in Royal First or Royal Silk on Thai, in each of two 12-month periods. Thai is a Star Alliance member, so Gold and Platinum are Star Alliance Gold. New qualification rules planned for 5 August 2026 were postponed; the current rules still apply.

How to earn it

Free to join. Thai calls the base tier Silk.

What it gets you

Earn and redeem miles, and 2,500 bonus miles after your first Thai flight; no elite benefits.

At the lounge door

No status lounge access. Lounge entry is by cabin, membership, or a card.

2.Silver

Star Alliance Silver

How to earn it

10,000 Qualifying Miles in 12 months, or 15,000 in 24 months.

What it gets you

Priority waitlist and standby, one extra 23 kg bag on Thai flights, 5% tier bonus miles.

At the lounge door

No lounge access.

3.Gold

Star Alliance Gold

How to earn it

50,000 Qualifying Miles in 12 months, 80,000 in 24 months, or 40 international Thai sectors in 12 months (deep-discount fares excluded).

What it gets you

Dedicated check-in at Bangkok, priority boarding and bags, Gold Track, an extra bag, 10% tier bonus miles, upgrade vouchers.

At the lounge door

Thai Royal Silk lounges with one guest on international Thai flights, and Star Alliance Gold lounges, with one guest, whenever you fly a Star Alliance carrier the same day, in any cabin.

4.Platinum

Star Alliance Gold

How to earn it

80,000 miles in Royal First or Royal Silk on Thai, in each of two consecutive 12-month periods.

What it gets you

Dedicated A1 check-in at Bangkok, two extra bags, 20% tier bonus miles, miles do not expire, upgrades for every 50,000 premium-cabin miles.

At the lounge door

Thai Royal First lounges with one guest on international Thai flights in any cabin, and Star Alliance Gold lounges, with one guest, whenever you fly a Star Alliance carrier the same day, in any cabin.

Qualification thresholds are the published ones as last checked and change most years; confirm the current numbers with Thai Airways. Alliance equivalences and the lounge rules that follow from them move far more slowly.
