At a glance
This is a temporary Centurion Lounge. SFO's original Terminal 3 location (opened in 2014) closed in 2025 for the Terminal 3 West Modernization Project, and Amex moved into the former Alaska Lounge space in Terminal 2, Boarding Area D, until the permanent lounge reopens, expected in 2027. It's directly past the T2 checkpoint on the left, near Compass Books and Napa Farms Market. SFO is connected airside, so you can use it whichever terminal you're flying from. Allow a few extra minutes to walk to the far end of T1 or T3. At roughly 9,000 sq ft, it's smaller than the 15,000-plus-sq-ft original, but it feels open, and some seats look out on United's aircraft. The buffet with hot and cold dishes and the bar are on the right as you enter. Reviewers report showers that you book on a tablet at reception, and restrooms inside the lounge. Most visits start with the digital waitlist in the Amex app. You can enter within three hours of departure, or within five hours of a confirmed connection.
