Air India is handing premium passengers a new set of amenity kits and pajamas, starting this month. The kits carry Forest Essentials skin care, the First Class bag features original Gond art, and First and Business travelers now get a small wooden massager meant for an Ayurvedic pressure-point routine.
Air India announced the new collection on October 27. It is rolling out from October 2026 on international flights longer than eight hours, plus overnight international flights longer than six hours. The release has photos of the kits and loungewear.
First Class: art that changes every six months
The First Class kit is called The Art of Flight. Its bag shows Gond artwork made for Air India by the artist Dwarka Paraste, with motifs of nature and movement. Gond is a folk painting style from central India.
Air India says the artwork and colors will change every six months, so frequent flyers can build a set. For now, the kit comes in Ivory Cream on flights leaving India and Antique White on flights headed to India.
Inside are five Forest Essentials products: a day lotion with SPF 30, a facial mist, lip cream, a rich body lotion and a perfume, packed in a satin pouch. The usual basics are there too: socks, an eye mask, earplugs, a dental kit and a hair tie.
Business Class: the Navratna bags
Business Class kits come in what Air India calls the Navratna Collection, named after the nine gems of Indian tradition. The bag is shaped like a jharokha, the overhanging window found in Indian palaces, and made of faux leather. Coral bags go out on flights leaving India and Ruby bags on flights to India.
The Forest Essentials set is smaller than in First. It holds lip cream, body lotion and perfume. The same basics as First are included.
A wooden massager in both premium cabins
The most unusual item is a handmade massager carved from natural wood. Air India says it is designed for Marma points, an Ayurvedic practice of pressing certain spots on the body to help you relax. It goes in both the First and Business kits, with a card that explains how to use it. Air India claims no other airline has put one in an amenity kit.
New loungewear, now up to XXL
First and Business passengers on these flights also get new pajamas. The design draws on the Kullu shawl weaving of Himachal Pradesh, with geometric patterns on the placket and hem of a Henley-style top and on the drawstring of the pants.
The set is gender-neutral and comes in four sizes, including a new XXL. That is a practical change, since airline pajamas often run small. It comes in its own carry bag. Air India has also switched its slippers from gray to beige to match.
Premium Economy and Economy
Premium Economy gets a refreshed kit in a reusable Air India bag. It holds hand cream and lip balm from The Indian Apothecary, along with socks and an eye mask. The release does not mention any change for Economy.
How this fits Air India's broader upgrade
This is the second premium-cabin announcement from Air India in a week. The airline recently moved its long-haul Business Class meal service to course-by-course dining, served one plate at a time instead of on a single tray.
Rajesh Dogra, Air India's chief customer experience officer, framed the kits as a way of "creating experiences that allow guests to take a meaningful piece of India with them wherever they travel."
Soft products like these are cheaper and faster to change than seats. They matter because Air India's older long-haul cabins are still being retrofitted, and on some aircraft the hard product lags behind rivals. Better bedding, dining and kits help close that gap while the seats catch up.
Where to wait before your flight
At Delhi, Air India's premium passengers can use The Maharaja Lounge, which has a cocktail bar and showers. Air India also runs Maharaja Lounges at Bengaluru, New York JFK and San Francisco. As a Star Alliance member, Air India also lets eligible Star Alliance Gold members into these lounges.
