Airport lounges get most of the attention, but for many travelers the hotel club lounge matters just as much. Marriott is now changing how those rooms work at a large group of its hotels in Asia. The company is piloting a "Marriott Bonvoy Lounge" at select Premium hotels in Asia Pacific and Greater China.
What Marriott announced
On its Marriott Bonvoy Lounge page, Marriott describes the lounge as built around local food, drink and hospitality. The page says it is "coming soon to participating properties" and is "available to eligible Elite members at participating properties."
The plan was shared at Marriott Bonvoy's Member Day at its Bethesda headquarters, according to One Mile at a Time. It reports two waves:
- About 100 qualifying hotels in Asia Pacific, not counting China, by February 2027.
- About 220 qualifying hotels in Greater China by the end of the first quarter of 2027.
That is about 320 hotels in total. Milesopedia adds that the new lounge replaces the current club lounge format at those hotels.
What changes inside
Marriott lists a few features on its page:
- The Coral Pour: a wellness drink made with local ingredients, served in the morning.
- Marriott Bonvoy Bites: regional dishes served each evening, only in the lounge.
One Mile at a Time reports that Marriott also promises better food and drink overall, and dedicated staff during peak periods. Milesopedia says Marriott describes a lounge that runs from breakfast through the evening.
You will be able to find participating hotels with a lounge filter in the Marriott Bonvoy app and on Marriott.com. Marriott says that filter will also show lounge hours.
Who gets in
This is the main open question. Marriott has not said which elite tiers qualify. Today, club lounge access is a Bonvoy benefit that starts at Platinum Elite, as Milesopedia notes. It is fair to expect that to carry over, but wait for Marriott's terms before you plan around it.
It is also not yet clear if guests who book a club-level room will share the same lounge. One Mile at a Time suggests paid access may be offered, but Marriott has not confirmed that.
Why it matters for lounge fans
Brand standards for club lounges have long varied from hotel to hotel. One hotel might serve a full evening spread. Another might put out a few snacks. A named program with set features could make the benefit more predictable. That is good news if you plan Asia trips around Platinum status, where a solid evening spread can replace dinner.
The pilot covers only Asia Pacific and Greater China for now. There is no word on Europe or the Americas.
How to use this on your next trip
If you have a stay booked in Asia in early 2027, check the hotel listing for the lounge filter once it goes live. Look at the hours, too. A lounge that closes early is less useful after a long flight. And if you are booking a hotel near an airport for an early flight, pair it with a check of our airport lounge directory so you know where you can eat before you board.
My take
I like the idea of a clear standard, because a club lounge is only worth chasing if you know what you will get. The real test is whether Bonvoy Bites is a proper evening meal or a small tasting plate. I would wait for first reports from Platinum members before booking a stay around it.
