Air Canada is ending its nonstop service between Vancouver and Singapore in January 2027. That removes the route that launched in April 2024 as the only nonstop flight between Canada and Singapore.

CNA reported confirmation from Changi Airport that the final Singapore departure will be January 26. The airline told the outlet the decision was commercial. The last departure date depends on which direction you are flying, so travelers should check their individual reservation.

Why this is a meaningful route change

Air Canada's launch announcement described a 12,818-kilometer journey on a Boeing 787-9. It offered Signature Class lie-flat seats, premium economy and economy.

The nonstop made a trip to Singapore possible without an intermediate airport. It also served passengers connecting beyond Singapore. Losing that option changes more than the time spent on the aircraft: it can add another security process, airport transfer or overnight stop.

A search result showing Air Canada tickets to Singapore after the cutoff should not be read as proof that the nonstop continues. An airline can sell a destination using connecting flights, including services operated by partners.

If you already have a booking

Open the booking and examine each flight, rather than checking only the destination and date. Look for a schedule-change message and compare the itinerary now shown with the one you originally bought.

If your trip has been changed, contact the airline or ticketing agent about the options attached to your reservation. Ask about the total journey time, operating airlines, cabin on every segment and what happens to connecting flights.

Do not cancel a usable reservation before you understand the replacement or refund terms. This article does not establish what remedy applies to every ticket; that depends on the reservation and the airline's handling of the change.

Recheck the premium cabin

A new connecting itinerary may offer a different seat on one or more flights. Travelers who paid for a long nonstop in a lie-flat cabin should check the aircraft and cabin for the replacement journey.

An itinerary labeled business class can include a shorter segment with another seat type. Read the segment details before accepting a change, especially when sleep, accessibility or a long connection matters to your trip.

Award travelers should also confirm that the replacement is ticketed. A proposed itinerary is not the same as a completed reissue, and an available cash seat does not establish an available award seat.

Rebuild the lounge plan

Adding a connection adds another airport to your lounge plan. Check the terminal, opening hours and access rules there. A lounge benefit that works at Vancouver does not automatically work at the new connecting point.

You may also arrive at Singapore at a different time. If you have an onward flight, compare the new arrival with its boarding time and any terminal transfer. A long lounge visit should not be the basis for accepting an impractical connection.

Our Vancouver and Singapore directories remain useful starting points. For travel beyond January, plan around an itinerary the airline can actually issue. The nonstop's closure does not mean Singapore disappears from the booking network, but it does mean the old one-flight journey can no longer be assumed.
