AirAsia is restoring flights from Kuala Lumpur to Ahmedabad and Amritsar, with four weekly services on each route. The airline's October 5, 2026, announcement gives October 25 as the start of the Ahmedabad travel period and December 2 for Amritsar.

The release also promoted one-way fares from RM669. That sale required booking from October 5 through October 11 and has already ended. Travelers booking now should use current prices rather than expect the launch fare to remain available.

What the announcement confirms

AirAsia's release identifies the restored Kuala Lumpur links and the four-times-weekly frequency. Its published travel periods extend through August 31, 2027, for both cities.

The release does not give a detailed timetable or list the operating weekdays. Check those in the booking engine, especially if your plans depend on returning after a short visit. Four flights a week offer more choice than an occasional service, but they do not provide a daily fallback.

It also does not specify the aircraft or cabin layout. Avoid choosing a fare on the assumption that a particular seat, entertainment system or onboard service will be present. Confirm the operating airline and the booked product on the itinerary.

For background on the group, see Lounge Frog's AirAsia airline page. The operator named on the ticket remains the relevant carrier for baggage and other conditions.

The launch price came with conditions

The advertised RM669 starting fare included passenger service charges, regulatory service charges, fuel surcharges and other applicable fees, according to the release. It applied only to selected flights during the sale.

AirAsia also described a one-time change-fee waiver, while noting that a fare difference could still apply. A waived change fee does not mean a move to a more expensive date is free.

A separate offer advertised 20 kilograms of checked baggage for RM30 when bought with the initial flight booking through AirAsia MOVE. Its terms limited travel to November 30, 2026, subject to availability. That date precedes the announced December 2 Amritsar return, so the release does not support applying that baggage offer to the restored Amritsar service.

This is a useful example of why several benefits in one announcement should not be treated as one universal package. Each has its own dates and purchase conditions.

Kuala Lumpur connections need a terminal check

For an onward itinerary, start with the Kuala Lumpur airport guide and verify which terminal each flight uses. The directory has separate pages for Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, also called klia2.

If flights are bought separately, allow time for any required arrival formalities, baggage collection and check-in. The route announcement does not establish protected connections or through-checked bags for every possible combination.

For lounge planning, Lounge Frog lists the Travel Club Lounge near klia2 Gate L8 and Travel Club Lounge in the klia2 satellite. Check the actual departure area, opening hours and access terms before selecting one.

Compare the whole trip

The restored routes give travelers another way to reach western and northern India from Malaysia. Their value will depend on the operating days, arrival times and the fare available when you book.

Compare bags, seats and connection costs alongside the base ticket. For family visits, a suitable arrival day may be worth more than a small fare difference. For a fixed event, make sure the return schedule works before paying for accommodation.

The enduring news is the return of two routes. The expired launch price is background, and the airline's live schedule should decide the details of a new reservation.
