How Mumbai's terminals shape the choice

Mumbai has two terminal buildings a few kilometers apart. Terminal 2 is the big integrated one, with international flights on one side and full-service domestic flights on the other. Terminal 1 handles domestic low-cost carriers through its 1B and 1C halls. There is no airside link between them, and even inside Terminal 2 the international and domestic zones are separate once you pass security. So the first question is not which lounge is best, but which lounges you can physically reach.

The honest answer is that Mumbai has one excellent lounge and a long tail of average ones. The airport itself rates 2.5 in our directory, among the lowest of any major hub. That makes the gap between the top room and the rest unusually wide. For the national picture, see our ranking of the best lounges in India, and for a warning on surprise bills, read why a complimentary lounge visit can still cost you.

1. Adani Lounge East

Adani Lounge East is the lounge to plan around. It rates 4.6 and sits airside in Terminal 2 international departures on Level 4, near gates 45 and 46 and next to McDonald's. It is open 24 hours and holds up to 500 people, so it rarely turns anyone away. There is a full bar, six showers and a spa, though showers, spa and massage chairs cost extra. Priority Pass gets you in for a maximum of two hours, children under three are free, and free alcohol is limited to four drinks per adult. Food, drinks, quiet, seating and service all scored five. If you are connecting from a domestic flight to an international one, clearing to this side early is worth it.

2. Aviserv Lounge (West)

The Aviserv Lounge (West) rates 3.3 on seven metrics and is a landside arrivals room, not a departure lounge. It is on Level 2 on the west side of Terminal 2 arrivals, near Arrival Gate A, and opens around the clock. Priority Pass is accepted for up to three hours, subject to capacity. Food, power, seating and service each scored four, while coffee scored two. It makes sense after a long overnight flight when you need a shower-free reset before heading into the city, or if you have hours to kill before a separate onward ticket.

3. Travel Club Lounge (T1C)

Terminal 1 flyers get the Travel Club Lounge (T1C), rated 3.2 on six metrics. It is airside in the 1C domestic hall, directly opposite Gate 22, and never closes. There is a full bar, though drinks scored only two. Power, seating and service each earned four. Priority Pass works here, and paid entry is also sold. It is a place to sit with an outlet rather than a destination, but it is the only photographed option in the terminal.

4. Travel Club (T2 Domestic)

The Travel Club (T2 Domestic) sits opposite Gate 44 in the Terminal 2 domestic departures area and serves domestic transit and departures only. It rates 2.8 on eight metrics. Priority Pass visits are capped at three hours and children under four are free. Spa services and massage chairs cost extra. The catch is the food: the lounge hands each guest one takeaway box to eat inside rather than running a buffet, and food scored two. Views scored one. Power and seating were fine at four. Use it for a quiet seat before a domestic flight and eat elsewhere.

The lounge that is missing

The highest-rated room in Mumbai is not on this list. The Adani Lounge for loyalty members in Terminal 2's domestic zone scores 4.8 and takes Priority Pass, LoungeKey and DragonPass, but we do not yet have a photo of it, and every lounge here must be pictured. The same goes for the Adani Lounge in Terminal 1B and the Aviserv Lounge on the east side of arrivals. Once photos land, expect the domestic Adani lounge to go straight to the top.

Where to look next

Our rankings use ratings across fourteen metrics, explained on the methodology page. The generated page at the BOM top five updates as new reviews arrive, and the airport page lists all ten lounges across both terminals, including the ones that missed this cut.
