Delta announced on October 12 that it will postpone its planned Atlanta–Riyadh nonstop service until March 2027. The airline cited developments in the region and said safety guides its operating decisions. Customers with affected bookings have refund and rebooking options. Delta's statement is the source of the new target.
The waiver is the part ticket holders need
The accompanying travel waiver covers eligible travel to, from or through Riyadh between October 23, 2026, and March 26, 2027. It applies to tickets issued on or before October 12.
Delta lists May 31, 2027, as the deadline to change the flight and the latest departure date under its flexible window. Eligible same-cabin rebookings within the conditions can have the fare difference waived. Changes outside the conditions can cost more. Customers can also review cancellation options, including refunds or eCredits. Read Delta's waiver and full terms before choosing.
Check the booking before replacing it
The practical first step is to open the reservation in My Trips or the Delta app. Review what the airline has offered for that booking, rather than assuming a replacement flight you found elsewhere will be covered.
A waiver is a set of conditions, not an unrestricted credit for any new trip. If you want to change the destination, cabin or travel dates, ask how that affects the cost before confirming. Keep the original ticket information and the details of any proposed replacement together so the comparison is clear.
Do not confuse an eCredit with money returned to the original payment method. They serve different purposes. If a refund is available and you prefer it, review that option rather than selecting a credit simply because it is presented first.
The route announcement and the waiver do different jobs
The route announcement tells customers that the planned launch has moved. The waiver describes the flexible handling of affected travel. Neither should be read as a complete assessment of every flight operated by every airline to Riyadh.
A traveler on another carrier needs that carrier's booking information and policy. A separate hotel or onward ticket also needs its own review. If your revised itinerary still passes through Atlanta, consult our Atlanta lounge guide for airport planning; lounge entry depends on your ticket, status or access program. This article does not establish whether those independent bookings can be changed without cost.
Delta says it remains committed to serving Saudi Arabia. March 2027 is its stated target, not a guarantee that conditions or schedules will remain unchanged.
What passengers should do next
Compare the available refund, credit and rebooking choices against the trip you still want to take. If an alternative works, confirm its conditions before accepting. If you no longer want the trip, check the cancellation option attached to your ticket.
Save the confirmation after any change and review the new itinerary. That is particularly useful when a connection or return flight is involved, because a change to one segment can affect the rest of the journey.
The important change is that the earlier October launch plan has been superseded. Use the current statement and waiver for decisions about an affected booking, rather than an older promotional page.
