easyJet has put five more UK routes on sale for summer 2027. Three of them start at Southampton, which gets a daily link to Edinburgh and new leisure flights to Spain and western France. The other two leave from London: Gatwick to Cagliari in Sardinia, and Luton to Rennes in Brittany.

The airline announced the routes in a release on October 15. It says they add to the 18 new routes it revealed in September for the same season.

The five new routes

Here is what easyJet says it will fly, with start dates and frequencies:

  • Southampton to Edinburgh: daily from March 28, 2027
  • Southampton to Malaga: twice a week from May 1
  • Southampton to La Rochelle: twice a week from May 29
  • London Gatwick to Cagliari: three times a week from June 1
  • London Luton to Rennes: twice a week from July 1

The Edinburgh route is the one most likely to matter to frequent travelers. A daily flight between the south coast of England and the Scottish capital works for business trips as well as weekends away. The rest are classic summer routes, built around beaches, food and short breaks rather than commuting.

easyJet holidays is also selling package trips to Edinburgh and Malaga on the new Southampton flights. The airline says bookings need a deposit of £60 per person.

Why Southampton stands out

Southampton is a small airport with one terminal, and that cuts both ways. The walk from the front door to the gate is short. But there is little choice once you are through security, and the airport scores low on our ratings. You can see the details on our Southampton Airport page.

Three new routes at once is a meaningful boost for a field of this size. For people who live in Hampshire, Dorset or the Isle of Wight, it means fewer long drives to Gatwick or Heathrow for a summer flight to Spain or France.

Where to wait before your flight

easyJet does not run its own lounges, and its fares do not include lounge access. If you want a quiet seat before boarding, you will need a lounge network membership, a card that includes one, or a paid day pass. Here is what is open at each departure airport.

Southampton. The airport has one lounge, The Spitfire Lounge. It takes Priority Pass, LoungeKey and DragonPass members. It serves beer and wine and has no showers. It is a simple room, but at an airport this small it is the only option.

London Gatwick. The Cagliari flights leave from Gatwick, where easyJet uses both the North and South terminals. Check which one your booking shows before you plan your wait. In the North Terminal, the No1 Lounge (North) has showers and a full bar, and My Lounge (North) is a good second choice. In the South Terminal, the No1 Lounge (South) is one of the best rated independent lounges on the site. Clubrooms (South) is known for its cocktails. All of these accept Priority Pass. Our Gatwick page lists every lounge at the airport.

London Luton. Rennes passengers have two lounges to choose from at Luton: the No1 Lounge and My Lounge. Both take Priority Pass and serve a full bar. The No1 Lounge is the stronger of the two on our ratings.

Edinburgh, on the way back. If you fly the new route in both directions, Edinburgh has more choice than Southampton. The Aspire Lounge and the Escape Lounge both take Priority Pass. So does the Turkish Airlines Lounge by Plaza Premium Group.

What it means for travelers

None of these routes changes the lounge picture on its own. easyJet is a low-cost airline, and its loyalty offer, easyJet Plus, is a paid subscription built around seats, bags and fast-track security rather than lounges. Our easyJet airline page has more on how it compares.

What the routes do change is choice. A new daily Edinburgh service gives Southampton a year-round reason to keep growing. The French and Italian routes open up places that usually need a connection or a long drive from a bigger hub.

If you hold a card with Priority Pass or a similar network, these flights are easy to pair with a lounge visit at Gatwick, Luton or Edinburgh. At Southampton, keep your expectations modest and arrive with time to spare rather than planning a long stay.
