Emirates is paying travelers to linger in Dubai again. Its Skywards loyalty program says members can earn one bonus mile for every minute they spend in the city, up to 7,200 bonus miles. That cap equals five full days on the ground.
The offer, called Mile-A-Minute, was first introduced in 2021. Emirates announced its return on Oct. 22, 2026, in its media center release. The window to book is short, so the dates matter more than the miles.
The dates and the rules
Here is what the official offer page says you need to do. All deadlines are Dubai time.
- Register for the offer by 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 5, 2026. You can do it on emirates.com, the Emirates app, flydubai.com, or through Emirates call centers and retail offices. New members can join Skywards for free and still qualify if they enroll by the same deadline.
- Book and ticket a return trip between Oct. 21 and Nov. 5, 2026.
- Fly the whole trip between Oct. 21 and Dec. 13, 2026.
- Stay in Dubai for at least 24 hours and no more than 30 days.
The trip has to start outside the United Arab Emirates. UAE residents can't take part, based on the home address in their Skywards profile. That makes this a deal for visitors, including Americans who route through Dubai.
Emirates says the offer covers all cabins on both Emirates and flydubai. The fine print lists the eligible fares: Special, Saver, Flex and Flex Plus on Emirates, from economy to first class. On flydubai, it lists Lite, Value and Flex in economy, plus Business. One-way fares do not count. Codeshare and interline flights on other airlines are also excluded. The ticket must also be one that earns normal Skywards miles under the program rules.
How the miles add up
The math is simple. A day has 1,440 minutes, so each full day in Dubai is worth 1,440 bonus miles. The 24-hour minimum stay means anyone who qualifies gets at least 1,440 miles. After five days, you hit the 7,200 cap.
The clock runs on the scheduled arrival and departure times on your ticket. A late flight out won't earn you extra. The bonus is paid only once per member, for the first eligible stay, within 30 days after you leave Dubai. If you qualify for another Skywards promotion at the same time, Emirates says you only get the larger of the two bonuses.
These bonus miles sit on top of the miles you earn for the flights themselves.
Is 7,200 miles worth chasing?
Lounge Frog values Skywards miles at about 1.2 cents each. At that rate, the full 7,200-mile bonus is worth roughly $86. A one-day stopover's 1,440 miles is worth about $17.
That is a nice bonus, but it is not a reason to book a trip on its own. Our view is simple. If you were already flying Emirates to Asia, Africa or the Indian Ocean this fall, a stopover of a few days in Dubai now pays you a little. If you were not, a hotel night in Dubai will likely cost more than the miles are worth. You can run your own numbers below.
Remember to register. The miles aren't automatic just because you flew. Emirates also says the bonus is credited "only once per member during the offer period," so plan one stay, not two.
More ways to earn in Dubai
Emirates is also pushing its partners in the city. It says members can earn miles on eligible stays at Atlantis The Palm, on some desert safaris and tours with Arabian Adventures, and on eligible purchases at Dubai Mall. The Skywards Everyday app lets members link up to five payment cards and earn at hundreds of brands across the UAE.
On the way home, Emirates premium passengers can wait in its big Dubai lounges. See our pages for the Emirates Business Class Lounge in Concourse B and the Emirates First Class Lounge in Concourse A. You can also browse every lounge at Dubai International and our Emirates airline page.
The bottom line
Mile-A-Minute is back, and it is easy to earn if your trip already runs through Dubai. Register by Nov. 5, book a return trip by the same date, and fly by Dec. 13. Stay five days to max it out. Just don't let up to $86 in miles talk you into a trip you weren't going to take.
