Pan Am stopped flying in 1991, but its most famous lounge is coming back for one trip, on a cruise ship. Holland America Line says its Pan Am 100th Anniversary Legendary Voyage will bring back parts of the Clipper Club, the airline's network of private airport lounges. The 28-day cruise leaves Miami on Oct. 30, 2027, aboard Zuiderdam.
Holland America shared the onboard plans on Oct. 9, 2026, in a press release. The cruise had been announced before. What's new is the detail: who will speak, what will be served and which tours will run ashore.
The Clipper Club, at sea
For decades, the Clipper Club was where Pan Am's best customers waited before a flight. Holland America describes it as a place to relax, dine and socialize before and between flights. On Zuiderdam, the line says guests will find "moments inspired by the original Clipper Club."
That wording is worth reading closely. Holland America has not said the ship will have a full lounge that stays open for the whole trip. It also has not said whether every guest can get in, or whether some events cost extra. The release talks about reimagined Clipper Club programming, not a new room. If access matters to you, ask the line or your travel advisor before you book.
Pan Am food and drink
The menus may be the easiest part of the trip to picture. Holland America says special menus will draw on dishes once served on Pan Am flights. Its examples read like a 1960s first-class menu:
- Shrimp cocktail with boiled egg, asparagus and Louis dressing
- Cream of tomato soup
- Broiled filet mignon with croquette potatoes
- Eggplant cannelloni with asparagus risotto
- Dover sole with a crab filling, baked in puff pastry
- Grand Marnier soufflé with crème anglaise
There will be two signature drinks. The Pan Am Cocktail mixes light rum, Campari, orgeat, lemon juice and egg white. The Clipper Cocktail, which Holland America says was poured on Pan Am's flying boats, uses Mount Gay Eclipse rum, Dolin Blanc and grenadine.
Who will be speaking
Five guest speakers will cover the airline's people, planes and routes. They include actor Willie Aames, who will talk about Pan Am's early years and the Pacific Clipper's wartime trip. Linda Freire, who chairs the Pan Am Museum Foundation, will share stories from her years as a flight attendant, recruiter and manager. David Hinson, the foundation's vice chairman, will cover flight attendant training and the airline's service culture.
Steve Gray, a speaker and storyteller, will talk about the Flying Clippers and Pan Am's routes to South America. David Kliman, a longtime pilot and frequent Pan Am passenger, will draw on his collection of airline items. Holland America says he has logged more than four million airline miles.
Where the ship goes
The cruise sails round trip from Miami and follows parts of Pan Am's old routes in the Caribbean and Central America. Holland America has named four ports with tours built just for this trip:
- Cartagena, Colombia: a ride in classic roadsters, local food and the city's emerald trade.
- Colón, Panama: the Agua Clara Locks and the Panama Canal Railway.
- St. John's, Antigua: a trip up to Shirley Heights, where the harbor views match what Pan Am navigators once used.
- Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: Chaguaramas, a former Pan Am flying boat base, and its aviation museum.
The full list of ports was not in this release. Holland America also did not give fares.
"Pan Am helped redefine what it meant to travel," said Paul Grigsby, the line's vice president of itinerary planning and deployment.
Before you board in Miami
Zuiderdam is a Vista class ship. It entered service in 2002 and carries about 1,900 guests. You can find it in our cruise directory at Cruise Frog.
Many guests will fly into Miami International the day before. If you have time to kill at the airport on the way home, Miami has strong options. The Centurion Lounge is open to Amex Platinum cardholders. American's Flagship Lounge serves premium international travelers and top oneworld elites. Priority Pass members can use the Turkish Airlines Lounge in Concourse H/J.
None of these is a Clipper Club, of course. That brand belongs to the past, and for four weeks in late 2027 it will live on a cruise ship.
