IndiGo has revised the fuel charges included in new flight bookings made after 12:01 a.m. on October 6, 2026. Its October 5 release lists domestic charges by distance and international charges by region.

For travelers comparing tickets, these are the published charge amounts, rather than the amount by which every fare has increased. The release does not give the old charge beside each new one, so it does not support calculating a uniform increase.

The published domestic and international amounts

IndiGo's announcement lists domestic fuel charges of ₹375 for routes up to 500 kilometers, ₹600 for 501–1,000 kilometers, ₹900 for 1,001–1,500, ₹1,150 for 1,501–2,000 and ₹1,300 above 2,000.

For international routes, it lists ₹1,000 within the SAARC region up to 500 kilometers and ₹3,000 from 501 kilometers. Southeast Asia, the GCC and Middle East, and North and East Asia are each listed at ₹5,500. Africa is ₹6,000 and Europe ₹10,000.

These figures are charges within the fare calculation, not complete ticket prices. Compare the total shown at checkout, including the fare and other applicable items, rather than adding one of these numbers to a price that may already include it.

The airline attributes the revision to higher aviation fuel costs. That is the company's stated reason for the change.

What the booking cutoff means

The release applies the new schedule to new bookings after the stated October 6 cutoff. It does not announce a general demand for passengers to pay the charge again at the airport.

It also does not set out every case involving a changed, reissued or partially used ticket. If you already hold a reservation and need to change it, request a full repricing from the airline or the issuing agent.

A departure after October 6 and a booking made after October 6 are different things. Read the wording around the purchase date before assuming an older ticket falls under a new charge.

For a fresh booking, keep the final fare breakdown and confirmation. That provides a clear record if the amount shown later differs from what was accepted at payment.

Compare a trip on its final cost

The fuel charge is one part of the purchase. Bags, seat selection, meals and flexibility can still change which fare is best for a particular journey.

For example, a domestic traveler comparing Pune and Bhubaneswar services should compare the full ticket and the flight time. A long-haul traveler should also check the operator and what the booked cabin includes.

IndiGo has separately announced new Udaipur flights. A network launch does not override the charge rules applicable when a new ticket is purchased.

If a price looks higher than an earlier search, the fuel component may be only one cause. Availability and the underlying fare can change too. This release does not isolate every reason for a price difference.

Keep airport costs visible

A ticket's fuel charge does not create lounge access. If a lounge is part of the plan, check its cost or your membership separately from the airfare.

The directory includes the Pune ground-floor Elysian Lounge, Bhubaneswar O'Vetra Domestic Lounge, and airport guides for Mumbai and Delhi.

The useful comparison is the amount needed for the entire journey. Use the new published charges to understand the fare breakdown, while letting the live final price and the ticket conditions decide the booking.
