LATAM Brasil gets its first Embraer E195-E2, with no middle seats and free Wi-Fi for members

The first of 12 E2s due this year starts flying between November and March, taking LATAM to four new Brazilian cities. Every seat is a window or aisle, and Premium Economy sits up front.

LATAM's Brazilian arm has its first Embraer E195-E2. Embraer said on Oct. 8 that it has started handing the jet over at its plant in São José dos Campos. It is the first of 12 that LATAM Airlines Brasil expects to receive by the end of 2026, with 12 more due in 2027.

For travelers, the jet matters for two reasons. It will take LATAM to Brazilian cities it does not serve today. And its cabin has no middle seats at all.

What the cabin looks like

LATAM says its E195-E2s will seat 136 people, four across in a 2-2 layout. That means every passenger gets a window or an aisle. The plane has two cabins: Premium Economy at the front and Economy behind it. The airline says Premium Economy will have up to 20 seats, depending on how each jet is set up.

According to LATAM, Premium Economy brings more legroom, more recline and a better onboard service than Economy. The release does not give seat pitch figures or describe the meals.

Some features apply to everyone on board:

  • Wi-Fi: free for passengers who are signed in as LATAM Pass members.
  • Power: a USB-C port at every seat.
  • Entertainment: LATAM Play, the airline's streaming service for movies, shows and music on your own device.

The release does not mention seatback screens, so plan to bring a phone or tablet.

When and where it will fly

The first jet still has a few steps to clear before it carries passengers. LATAM says those include customs, approval of the cabin interior and final sign-off from ANAC, Brazil's aviation regulator. Embraer says it expects the plane to enter service "in the coming days." LATAM puts the start of E2 flying between November 2026 and March 2027.

In the first phase, LATAM plans to use its first 14 E2s on 42 routes. Eight of those routes are new. Four cities will join the LATAM network for the first time:

  • Cabo Frio, in Rio de Janeiro state
  • Macaé, in Rio de Janeiro state
  • Ji-Paraná, in Rondônia
  • Rondonópolis, in Mato Grosso

The airline has not yet published schedules or the full list of the 42 routes. It says it is also studying up to 18 more new destinations for 2027. LATAM Airlines Brasil serves 63 airports today, up from 44 six years ago, and says the E2 should take it past 70 in 2027.

Jerome Cadier, the CEO of LATAM Airlines Brasil, said the airline picked the E2 to grow in Brazil and to link new markets to its global network.

A faster path into service

LATAM's parent group announced plans for up to 74 E195-E2s in September 2025. Embraer says LATAM Brasil should finish certifying the type about a year after that order. The two companies say they saved time by using an Embraer demonstrator jet for evacuation tests, evaluation flights and crew training. They say that cut the time needed for those steps roughly in half.

The E195-E2 is the largest model in Embraer's newest E-Jet family. Embraer says it burns up to 30% less fuel than its first-generation E-Jets and can fly about 3,000 nautical miles.

What it means for lounges and LATAM Pass

Most of these new routes will feed LATAM's main hubs, so connections are where lounge access comes into play. At São Paulo-Guarulhos, the LATAM VIP Lounge (International) serves travelers heading abroad. Our Guarulhos airport page lists the other lounges there. Access rules for LATAM's lounges are on the LATAM VIP Lounge program page.

Small regional airports such as Cabo Frio or Ji-Paraná are unlikely to have lounges of their own, and LATAM has not announced any. Premium Economy on a short domestic hop also does not, by itself, promise lounge access; LATAM has not said what perks the E2's Premium Economy fare will include on the ground.

The free Wi-Fi offer is tied to LATAM Pass, so it is worth signing up before your first E2 flight even if you rarely fly LATAM. For a wider look at where to wait in the country, see our ranking of the best airport lounges in Brazil.

We will add the new routes to the LATAM airline page once the airline puts them on sale.
