NCL's biggest ship ever arrives early: you can now book Norwegian Aura's first sailings from May 2, 2027

Norwegian Cruise Line's biggest ship is coming early, and you can now book the very first trips. NCL said on October 9, 2026, that two new Mediterranean sailings on Norwegian Aura are open for sale. The ship's early delivery made them possible. The first one leaves on May 2, 2027.

The two new first sailings

These are now the first chances to sail on the ship:

• May 2, 2027: a 10-day trip from Trieste, Italy, to Athens (Piraeus), Greece. It calls at Dubrovnik and Split in Croatia, Bar in Montenegro, and Corfu, Santorini and Mykonos in Greece.
• May 12, 2027: a nine-day trip from Athens (Piraeus) back to Trieste. It calls at Rhodes, Mykonos, Santorini and Corfu in Greece, Bar in Montenegro, and Split and Zadar in Croatia.

NCL's biggest ship yet

Norwegian Aura will be NCL's largest and longest ship so far. It will be nearly 1,130 feet long and about 170,000 gross tons. NCL says that is 10% larger than Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna.

The big new feature is Ocean Heights, an outdoor play area across decks 18 to 21. It is a first for the fleet. It includes:

• Eclipse Racers, NCL's first side-by-side mat racing waterslides
• Aura Free Fall, a drop-in body slide
• Aura Ropes Course, 82 feet long
• Moon Climber, an obstacle course
• Aura Midway, with carnival-style games
• Areas just for kids, teens and families

NCL says the ship will also have its largest pool deck and largest Vibe Beach Club so far.

Whitney Houston show, Indian food and a giant spa

Guests on the first trips will be among the first to see the ship's new shows. The lineup includes "Whitney: A Celebration of Whitney Houston," made with the singer's estate and Primary Wave Music. Other shows are "ILLUMINOX: Infinite Wonder Unboxed," The Vinyl Republic, Aura FIRST NIGHT and Latin LIVE!

On the food side, Tamara will be NCL's first Indian specialty restaurant. The Panorama Room will be a free dining venue with an immersive design.

The Mandara Spa will have what NCL calls the cruise industry's largest Thermal Suite. It will also have the first Sensory Rain Pool at sea.

What the line's president said

"The early delivery of Norwegian Aura allows us to welcome guests aboard sooner than expected," said Marc Kazlauskas, president of Norwegian Cruise Line. He called it "our largest and most innovative ship yet." He said it was built to bring families and travelers of every generation together, "so no one has to compromise on their experience."

Where Aura goes next

After the two new trips, the ship will sail a seven-day Mediterranean trip from Trieste to Barcelona (Tarragona) on May 21, 2027. It calls at Valletta, Malta, and Salerno and Rome (Civitavecchia) in Italy.

Then it crosses the Atlantic on a 13-day trip to Miami. From June through October 2027, it will sail seven-day Eastern Caribbean trips from Miami. Stops include Puerto Plata, St. Thomas, Tortola and Great Stirrup Cay, NCL's private island in the Bahamas. That island is home to the new Great Tides Waterpark.

In winter 2027 and 2028, the ship switches to seven-day Western Caribbean trips. They visit Roatan in Honduras, Costa Maya and Cozumel in Mexico, and Harvest Caye, NCL's resort stop in Belize.

The sale

NCL says people who book the new trips can use its Fall Flash Sale. It offers 50% off all cruises. It also gives up to $750 in onboard credit per cabin when you book a balcony or higher.
