SalamAir is expanding the ways travel sellers can access its flights through a new distribution agreement with Amadeus. The deal is aimed at making the Oman-based low-cost carrier easier to find and book through the travel agency market.

Amadeus announced the agreement on Oct. 20. For travelers, the potential benefit is greater visibility when an agent searches for flight options. The release does not announce new routes or a change to the airline's onboard product.

What the companies announced

Travel sellers connected to the Amadeus Travel Platform will gain access to SalamAir's fares and services, according to the release. The companies present the agreement as part of the airline's effort to broaden its international reach and diversify sales channels.

SalamAir says the arrangement supports its growth plans. Amadeus describes it as an extension of its work with low-cost airlines.

The announcement does not give a detailed public rollout timetable, a list of newly supported markets, or a promise that every agency will display every fare immediately. Availability needs to be checked through the seller handling the booking.

More visibility can improve comparisons

An airline can be a viable option for a trip without appearing in every booking search. Wider distribution can help an agent include more choices when comparing departure times, total journey length, and cost.

That is useful only if the comparison includes the services the traveler actually needs. Ask the agent to quote the flight with the required baggage, seat selection, and other optional items. A low starting fare and a complete trip price answer different questions.

If you are comparing an agency quote with a direct booking, check that the dates, passenger details, fare rules, and included services match. A price difference may reflect different conditions rather than a discount on an identical product.

For a trip with a connection, ask whether the flights are issued together and how a disruption would be handled. Being visible in the same search does not by itself explain the protection attached to an itinerary.

Know who will service the ticket

Before paying through any sales channel, identify who will handle a change or cancellation. Keep the seller's contact details along with the airline booking reference and ticket information.

This is especially useful when a trip involves a schedule change. You want to know where to request help without having to reconstruct the purchase during a delay.

Travelers arranging airport downtime should separately check lounge options and access conditions. The distribution agreement does not establish lounge privileges. Use Lounge Frog to start that research, then verify the terms with the relevant operator or access program.

The deal's practical effect will become clearer as travel sellers make the content available. An agent may be able to offer SalamAir alongside other options more easily, but the best booking still depends on the full itinerary and the service terms.

For now, treat the announcement as an expansion in how tickets can reach customers. Ask for a complete quote and a clear explanation of support before choosing the booking channel. Save those answers with the itinerary so every traveler in the group knows where to turn if plans change.
