Silversea wants you at Rio's Carnival with a reserved seat at the parade. The luxury line has added 103 new sailings for September 2028 to May 2029, and the headline trip is a 75-night loop around all of South America. Silversea shared the plans on October 6, 2026. General sales opened on October 8, after a preview for its Venetian Society members on October 6.
The big numbers
Silversea's new 2028 and 2029 sailings include:
- 103 voyages
- 219 destinations in 56 countries
- 29 new ports of call
The trips cover the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, and South America. Silversea timed many of them to big cultural moments, such as Carnival in Venice and Rio de Janeiro, and New Year's Eve in Funchal and Sydney.
75 nights around South America
The star trip is Grand South America 2029 on Silver Nova. It is a 75-night round trip that leaves Fort Lauderdale on January 13, 2029, and returns on March 29, 2029. If you are flying in, see Lounge Frog's guide to Fort Lauderdale airport.
The trip includes:
- A trip through the Panama Canal
- Scenic cruising of the Antarctic Peninsula
- Overnight stays in Manaus, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Callao (Lima) and Cartagena
Guests on this trip also get three special events. The first is a sunset party in Gustavia, St. Barts, with champagne, dinner and live music. The second is Rio's Carnival, watched from a reserved space at the Sambadrome with preferred seats along the parade route. The last is a private rooftop party in Cartagena with music, dancers and shows.
Truffle hunts and Asian street food
Silversea is adding new S.A.L.T. Culinary Voyages. These trips are built around local food and led by local experts, chefs, wine experts and bartenders.
- Wine & Truffle: Three trips on Silver Dawn across Italy and Spain from October through December. They run from Livorno, the gateway to Tuscany, to Palamos in Catalonia. Guests get truffle hunts, vineyard tours and tastings.
- Asian Markets: Four trips on Silver Muse between Singapore and Hong Kong. They include market tours with chefs and visits to hawker stalls.
Carnival in Venice and fireworks in Madeira
Silver Nova and Silver Dawn will sail 17 Mediterranean trips between October 2028 and March 2029. They call at 53 places in 12 countries, including new stops at Brindisi and Imperia.
Silver Dawn will stay overnight in Venice during Carnival, with an evening event inspired by Casanova. Another trip puts the ship in Funchal, Madeira, for New Year's Eve, so guests can watch the island's fireworks from the ship. Silver Dawn will also add three trips that visit Alexandria, with a Great Pyramids and Grand Egyptian Museum outing.
A private beach day in the Caribbean
Four ships will sail 38 Caribbean and Central America trips between November 2028 and March 2029. They are Silver Ray, Silver Nova, Silver Spirit and Silver Shadow. They visit 34 places in 21 countries, including a new stop at La Romana in the Dominican Republic. All four ships offer round trips from Miami, Fort Lauderdale or San Juan.
On the island of Canouan in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, guests will get a private beach day. It starts with a Carnival-style welcome with dancers and a steel band, then a beach party with food, drinks and live music.
Sydney on New Year's Eve
Silver Moon will spend the season in Australia and New Zealand. It will sail 10 trips to 42 places in three countries, with new stops at Batemans Bay and Phillip Island, and a scenic cruise through Dusky Sound. It will also stay overnight in Sydney for New Year's Eve.
In Asia, Silver Moon and Silver Muse will sail 26 trips to 62 places in 11 countries. There are eight new ports, among them Yeosu, Miyako-jima and Maizuru for Kyoto. Kobe and Bali become new places to start and end trips. Some sailings are timed to Japan's cherry blossom season and Hong Kong's Lunar New Year.
