United's two biggest United Clubs, at Dulles and Houston, are due to open this fall

A 40,000-square-foot United Club opens with Dulles' new Concourse E in October. A 54,000-square-foot club, United's largest, is due in Houston's rebuilt Terminal B. A 25,000-square-foot San Francisco club follows.

United is about to open the two largest clubs in its network. A 40,000-square-foot United Club will open with the new Concourse E at Washington Dulles. An even bigger one, at about 54,000 square feet, is coming to Houston's rebuilt Terminal B. Both are expected this fall.

United has called this a big push to add lounge space, because its clubs are so often full. "There is so much demand for the clubs now," United's director of clubs and lounges, Travis Christ, told Loudoun Now in June.

Dulles: a club inspired by Washington

The Dulles club sits on the second floor of Concourse E, a new 14-gate building for United. United first announced the concourse in December 2024. It says the club will grow its lounge space at Dulles by 70%.

The club will seat up to about 650 people. Its design borrows from Washington, D.C. According to United, it includes:

  • A layout modeled on the city's street grid, with no dead ends
  • Ceiling details that echo the vaulted Metro stations
  • Columns that nod to Union Station
  • Etched glass maps of downtown D.C.
  • A "blue room" facing west, inspired by the Blue Ridge Mountains
  • A large cherry blossom piece hanging over the center

The concourse sits right above the AeroTrain's C station. Passengers will ride up from the train straight into the concourse. Concourse E will take over United Express regional flights from the ground-level A gates. It also starts the long process of replacing the 1980s-era C/D concourse.

When Dulles opens

The airport first aimed for late September. In mid-September, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority told its board the opening would slip into October, FFXnow reported. An exact date hasn't been announced.

United's three existing Dulles clubs in Concourse C/D will stay open. Two of them, C7 and D, are among the best-rated United Clubs on Lounge Frog, at 4.8 and 4.9 out of 5. The Polaris Lounge stays open for long-haul business class.

Houston: United's largest club

In Houston, the new club is part of a $2.5 billion rebuild of Terminal B at George Bush Intercontinental. According to Houston Airports, the club will sit on the mezzanine level of the new Terminal B North concourse. It will span about 54,000 square feet and offer views over the airfield. It will be the largest in United's system, and United has said it will have an outdoor terrace.

The new Terminal B North will have 22 gates across three levels. It replaces the original 1969-era buildings.

United hasn't announced an exact opening date. The airport and United have pointed to fall 2026. A United employee told one reviewer this summer that the club was set to open in October.

Until it does, Terminal B travelers have the small United Club Fly, a grab-and-go space. The old Terminal B United Club is closed. United's best-rated Houston club today is in Terminal E, rated 4.7 out of 5.

And then San Francisco

A third big club is also on the way. United is building a 25,000-square-foot club in San Francisco's Terminal 2, with a large outdoor terrace. United has said only that it should open by the end of 2026.

Who gets in

Access at the new clubs should follow United's normal rules:

United has tightened one-time pass rules this year. Passes now work only within three hours of departure and can be refused when a club is crowded. More space at Dulles and Houston should make that less likely. See every lounge at Dulles and Houston.
