Why banks build lounges
Premium credit cards compete on airport lounge access. Instead of relying only on networks like Priority Pass, the big issuers now run lounges of their own.
Since the start of 2025, our directory records 10 such openings with photos: four from Chase, three from Capital One and three tied to American Express.
Chase and Capital One lead
Chase opened Sapphire Lounges in Phoenix, Philadelphia, Las Vegas and Dallas Fort Worth. The Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club is the best rated at 4.8.
Capital One opened in New York twice, with the Capital One Lounge and the Capital One Landing, and added a lounge in Las Vegas.
American Express spreads out
Amex opened Sidecar by The Centurion Lounge in Las Vegas and a Centurion Lounge in Amsterdam. In Cincinnati, Escape runs a Centurion Studio partner lounge. For which cards open which lounges, see lounge access by card.
