How Dubai's terminals shape the choice

Dubai International is really three airports with one name. Terminal 3 belongs to Emirates and splits into Concourses A, B and C, linked by trains and long walks. Terminal 1 serves most other long-haul airlines from Concourse D, which connects to Terminal 3 by an airside train. Terminal 2 sits across the airfield and handles flydubai and a few regional carriers. There is no airside link from Terminal 2 to the rest, so your lounge options are whatever that building holds.

The Emirates flagships only help Emirates flyers. The good news is that Marhaba and Ahlan run card-access lounges in every concourse, and several rate nearly as high as the airline rooms. Most lounges here are open around the clock. For the airline's full network, see our ranking of every Emirates lounge.

1. Emirates First Class Lounge (A)

The Emirates First Class Lounge (A) scores 4.7 and takes up an entire floor above the A gates in Terminal 3. Elevators and escalators rise from several points along the concourse, and many A gates board straight from the lounge. It holds about 400 people, pours craft cocktails, has 20 showers and is open 24 hours. Entry is for Emirates First passengers and Skywards Platinum members, who may bring one adult and two children. Business passengers can upgrade for 175 US dollars, and anyone else on Emirates can buy a visit for 300.

2. Marhaba Lounge (B)

Marhaba Lounge (B) matches that 4.7 with a very different crowd. It sits on the north side of Concourse B near gate B21, reached by its own elevator from the gate level. Priority Pass, LoungeKey and DragonPass all work, with visits capped at three hours for Priority Pass. It has a full bar, four showers and room for 250. Walk-up passes are sold by the hour. It is the best card-access room in Terminal 3 and worth the train ride from A or C.

3. Marhaba Lounge (T2)

Terminal 2 has few options, so the 4.7 rating of Marhaba Lounge (T2) is a relief for flydubai passengers. It sits airside opposite Duty Free and gates F3 and F4. The room is small at 120 seats and has no showers, but food, coffee and views all scored five. The same three card networks are accepted, and Priority Pass stays are limited to two hours here. It never closes.

4. Emirates Business Class Lounge (A)

The Emirates Business Class Lounge (A) rates 4.6 and is enormous, with capacity for 1,500. Like its First Class neighbor it fills a whole floor above the A gates and boards directly at many of them. It has 20 showers and never closes. Emirates business and first passengers get in, along with Skywards Gold and Platinum members. Silver members enter alone. Economy passengers and Business Special fares can pay 175 dollars.

5. Marhaba Lounge (A)

Marhaba Lounge (A) scores 4.6 at the west end of the Concourse A departures level, between gates A2 and A3. It is the smallest Terminal 3 Marhaba at 200 seats, but it rated five for food, service and views. It has four showers, a full bar, three-hour Priority Pass visits and 24-hour opening. If your flight leaves from a low A gate, it beats the walk to B.

6. Ahlan Business Class Lounge

Terminal 1's top card lounge is the Ahlan Business Class Lounge at 4.5. Find it on Level 2 of Concourse D near gate D13, up the escalators from the gates. It opened in 2016, holds 150, has two showers and a full bar, and accepts Priority Pass, LoungeKey and DragonPass. Walk-up passes are sold when space allows. Service and coffee both earned five.

7. Marhaba Lounge (D)

Marhaba Lounge (D) also rates 4.5 and is the larger of the two Concourse D card lounges, with 250 seats and four showers. It is on the arrivals level: take the train to the gates level, then the elevator or stairs down. Priority Pass visits are capped at three hours and walk-up passes run by the hour. Quiet and service scored five, which is rare in Terminal 1.

8. Ahlan First Class Lounge

The Ahlan First Class Lounge scores 4.0 on six rated metrics. It is on the arrivals level of Concourse D and serves first class passengers of airlines that have no lounge of their own at Dubai. Paid access can be booked in advance. Its six showers rated a full five. It is not a card lounge, so most readers will pass it by.

9. Ahlan Lounge at B

The Ahlan Lounge at B rounds out the list at 3.7. It is on the east side of the Concourse B departure level next to gate B26, with the entrance inside the Cadiz Tapas Bar. Priority Pass is the only network accepted, stays are capped at three hours and there are no showers. Service scored five, but workspace scored two. Allow 15 to 20 minutes to reach the A or C gates.

Where to look next

These rankings come from our ratings across fourteen metrics, explained on our methodology page. The generated page at the DXB top five updates as new reviews land, and the airport page lists every lounge. The Emirates lounges in Concourses B and C and the British Airways lounge in Terminal 1 rate highly but were left off because we do not yet have a photo of them.
