British Airways and Porter Airlines have signed a codeshare deal. It puts Porter's flights within Canada on ba.com under a BA flight number. BA announced the deal on June 24, 2026. Flights were bookable right away for travel from July 8, 2026.
If you fly BA between London and Canada, this gives you many more places to go once you land. Here is how it works.
Where you can go
The deal covers 17 Porter destinations. You reach them by connecting in Toronto or Montreal on your way to or from London. The full list is:
- Western Canada: Calgary, Edmonton, Kelowna, Saskatoon, Vancouver, Victoria and Winnipeg
- Ontario: Ottawa, Thunder Bay and Toronto Pearson
- Quebec: Montreal (Trudeau), Montreal (Metropolitan) and Quebec City
- Atlantic Canada: Charlottetown, Deer Lake, Halifax and St. John's
That stretches from Victoria on the Pacific coast to St. John's on the Atlantic.
Why a codeshare matters
A codeshare means you can book the whole trip in one transaction on ba.com. For example, you could book London to Toronto on BA and Toronto to Halifax on Porter as one ticket.
Booking on one ticket usually has two big advantages. Your bags are normally checked through to your final city. And if a delay on the first flight makes you miss the second, the airline is usually responsible for getting you there. If you book two separate tickets, you are on your own.
What Porter is like
Porter is based in Toronto and flies to more than 40 destinations in North America, Central America and the Caribbean. It only sells economy, but BA's release points out a few things that set it apart:
- No middle seats, since seats are in pairs
- Free, fast Wi-Fi
- Free drinks served in real glassware
- Premium snacks
Porter calls this "Elevated Economy." If you're used to BA's Club World, it is still a step down. But for a short hop within Canada, it's more comfortable than many economy cabins.
Avios, tier points and status
Members of The British Airways Club will earn Avios and tier points on Porter flights. BA has not said how many. It also hasn't said whether BA status gets you anything on Porter itself, such as priority boarding, extra bags or lounge access.
Porter is not part of oneworld, the alliance BA belongs to. So don't assume your Silver or Gold benefits carry over to Porter flights.
Lounges on the way
If you're connecting in Toronto to a BA flight to London, the British Airways Galleries Lounge at Pearson is the place to wait. Our users rate it 4.6 out of 5. It is open to passengers in First and Club World, to members of The British Airways Club with Silver or Gold status, and to oneworld Sapphire and Emerald members.
For the Porter part of your trip, there's no BA lounge. Check the airport's page on Lounge Frog for other options, such as Toronto Pearson. See every BA lounge on our British Airways page.
