Helsinki Airport has a new lounge for families and walk-in guests. Plaza Premium Group has opened Plaza Premium Lounge Lumi in the non-Schengen area. It has also refreshed its older Plaza Premium Lounge Aurora next door. Finavia, the airport operator, shared the news on October 9.

The headline feature is a game. Lumi has an iWall, a motion-based gaming wall built in Finland. Finavia says it is the first one installed in an airport lounge anywhere in the world. You play it by moving your body, so there are no controllers to pass around or lose.

Where to find the two lounges

Both lounges are in the non-Schengen area near Gate 40. That means you need to be on a flight outside the Schengen zone, such as a trip to the UK, the US or Asia, and past passport control. They sit side by side, so you can pick the one that fits your ticket and your mood.

Here is how Finavia splits them:

  • Plaza Premium Lounge Aurora is the premium room. It is mainly for customers of partner airlines. It seats about 100 guests and has a buffet, free drinks, showers, a play area for children and a meeting room you can book.
  • Plaza Premium Lounge Lumi is the new room. It takes walk-in guests, people who booked ahead and members of lounge access programs. Finavia says it was designed with families in mind.

Finavia did not list prices, opening hours or which lounge programs each room accepts. Our directory lists Lumi as open to Priority Pass and DragonPass members, and to paying guests through Plaza Premium. Check the lounge page before you go, since access rules at shared lounges can change.

Why Helsinki added more lounge space

Finavia says demand for lounges keeps growing. More travelers want a quiet place to work, rest or keep children busy before a flight. "Interest in lounge services continues to grow among passengers," said Joona Salonen, Finavia's head of airport lounges.

Splitting the space into two rooms is a clear trade. Airline guests get a calmer room in Aurora. Families and pay-per-visit guests get Lumi, with the gaming wall to burn off energy before a long flight. For parents facing a long wait before a long-haul flight, that is a real perk.

Plaza Premium Group runs both rooms. It also opened a Bites & Plates restaurant at Helsinki Airport in spring 2026, according to Finavia.

Other lounges at Helsinki

Helsinki is Finnair's home base, so most oneworld travelers will head to the Finnair lounges instead. Business class and oneworld elite flyers on non-Schengen trips can use the Finnair Business Lounge, and top-tier members can use the Finnair Platinum Wing.

If you hold Priority Pass, Lumi is a new option in the non-Schengen area. Helsinki also has two Aspire lounges, the Aspire Lounge at Gate 27 and the Aspire Lounge at Gate 13, which our directory lists as Priority Pass lounges. Check which side of passport control your gate is on before you head to one.

You can see every lounge at the airport on our Helsinki airport page.

What we still don't know

Finavia's release leaves a few gaps that matter to travelers:

  • It does not give an opening date for Lumi or say when the Aurora refresh finished.
  • It does not list walk-in prices for either room.
  • It does not say which airlines' passengers can use Aurora.

We will update this story if Plaza Premium Group or Finavia shares more. You can read Finavia's announcement for the full details.
