The Wrong Lounge Card Can Get You In—and Send You a Bill Later.

If you have several lounge memberships, the one you present matters. A successful scan does not mean the visit is free.

A card that fails at reception is inconvenient. A card that works and bills you later can be worse.

For travelers with multiple lounge memberships, getting through the door is only the first test. The membership actually used determines the applicable allowance and charges. A better benefit sitting unused in your wallet does not automatically transfer itself to the visit.

Priority Pass’s conditions of use put responsibility on customers with multiple memberships to present the correct access credential. They also say only one such membership may be used per visit and that charges can be applied later under the relevant plan.

So yes: the wrong card can work exactly as designed and still be the wrong card.

The desk cannot read your intentions

Picture a traveler with one membership that has complimentary visits remaining and another that charges for visits. Presenting the second does not become free merely because the first exists.

That is an illustrative scenario, not a reported customer case. It captures why “I have free lounge access” is too vague to protect you. You need to know which account provides it, what it includes and which credential reception is about to record.

The problem becomes easier to miss when several memberships look similar or live in separate digital accounts. A familiar logo tells you the network. It does not tell you the economics of your particular plan.

Before leaving home, label your own records by issuer and benefit. Check which digital account you are signed into. Keep that preparation separate from the hurried conversation at the counter.

Your companion is another billing decision

Guest treatment deserves its own check. Priority Pass explains that guest fees vary for bank-provided memberships and are billed to the payment card linked to the account.

Do not assume two travelers each holding membership will automatically be recorded as two members. Explain how each person is entering before the visit is processed. Equally, do not assume your own included visits necessarily cover your companion.

Ask to confirm the number of guests and keep the visit record. The point is to catch a mismatch while the facts are visible, rather than reconstructing the encounter from a charge weeks later.

A smarter benefit should require less administration

There is a reasonable product-design complaint here. Travelers should be able to understand the cost of using a benefit before using it.

For now, take thirty seconds to identify the correct membership before handing anything over. If you discover a mistake afterward, contact Priority Pass or the relevant issuer with the date, lounge and visit record. A refund is not guaranteed merely because another card would have been cheaper.

Access and affordability are separate checks. Treat them that way, and your lounge stop has a much better chance of ending with a coffee rather than a customer-service case.
