Amex Platinum vs Citi Prestige: which lounge card fits?

The real difference

Both cards share one network: Priority Pass. That is the entire lounge story for Citi Prestige in Lounge Frog's data, so any airport where Priority Pass has a good lounge is an airport where the two cards perform about the same.

Amex Platinum adds four more layers on top of that base: Centurion Lounge, Plaza Premium, Escape Lounges, and Delta Sky Club. The Delta access carries a condition worth remembering: it only works when you are flying Delta the same day, so it is a hub-and-loyalty perk rather than a general one.

Where each card has the edge

Amex Platinum carries an $895 annual fee; Citi Prestige charges $495. That $400 gap buys Centurion, Plaza Premium, Escape and conditional Sky Club entry, which is a meaningful upgrade at airports where those brands are present and Priority Pass options are weak or crowded.

Citi Prestige wins when your regular airports already have a solid Priority Pass lounge and nothing else you would use. In that situation the extra networks on the Platinum are paying for lounges you will rarely walk into. Delta flyers and travelers who pass through Centurion airports tilt hard toward Amex; everyone else should be honest about which logos they would actually see.
