Venture X vs Delta Reserve: which lounge card fits?

The real difference

Venture X unlocks three networks with no airline strings: Capital One Lounge, Priority Pass, and Plaza Premium.

Delta Reserve unlocks Delta Sky Club and Centurion Lounge, and Lounge Frog's data marks both as available only when you are flying Delta that day. The two cards share no network, so there is no airport where they open the same door. One is airline-agnostic; the other is a Delta product through and through.

Where each card has the edge

Venture X costs $395 a year; Delta Reserve costs $650. That $255 gap runs in the opposite direction to what you might expect from a mass-market card, and it strengthens the Venture X case for anyone who flies more than one airline.

Delta Reserve justifies the higher fee for a committed Delta flyer. If most departures are on Delta from a hub with a Sky Club, and especially where a Centurion Lounge is also present, the Delta card delivers lounges the Venture X cannot reach. Venture X wins for mixed-airline travel, international routes covered by Plaza Premium and Priority Pass, and airports with a Capital One Lounge. Guests should factor in too, since each network sets its own companion rules.

Write down your next three airports and which airline you would fly from each.
