Sapphire Reserve vs Delta Reserve: which lounge card fits?

The real difference

Sapphire Reserve draws on Priority Pass, Sapphire Lounge, and the Chase Sapphire Terrace. None of those depend on which airline you fly.

Delta Reserve unlocks Delta Sky Club and Centurion Lounge, but Lounge Frog's data attaches the same condition to both: you must be flying Delta that day. Fly another carrier and the card opens nothing. There is no shared network between the two cards, so the choice is really between airline-independent access and Delta-dependent access.

Where each card has the edge

Sapphire Reserve charges $795 a year; Delta Reserve charges $650. The Chase card is the better generalist, covering mixed-airline itineraries, international connections, and airports where a Priority Pass lounge is the only option.

Delta Reserve earns its place with people who fly Delta almost exclusively, especially from a Delta hub. For them, Sky Club plus conditional Centurion access on every Delta departure can be more valuable than a broad network they rarely use, and the fee is lower. The moment your flying mixes in other airlines, though, the Delta card's lounge value drops sharply while the Sapphire Reserve keeps working.
