American Airlines is offering a targeted status match that tops out at Executive Platinum. The offer is aimed at corporate travelers. Those matched at the top tier also receive four Flagship Lounge single-visit passes. Requests are due by 11:59 p.m. Central Time on October 23, 2026. The terms are published on AA's Elevated Instant Status Pass page and its corporate sales site. View from the Wing first reported the offer on October 12.

Who can apply

This is not a public promotion. AA's corporate sales page addresses the reader as a "valued corporate partner." Applicants need an AAdvantage number and proof of status with Delta SkyMiles, United MileagePlus, JetBlue TrueBlue or Southwest Rapid Rewards. View from the Wing describes the offer as a Corporate Status Match Plus tied to an eligible employer relationship. AA's public terms page calls it the 2026 Elevated 1-Phase Instant Status Pass. The AA pages do not spell out an employer test, so the exact targeting criteria have not been confirmed. Processing takes two to four weeks.

How the match works

The elevated match grants status one tier above the usual equivalent. Delta Silver, United Premier Silver, JetBlue Mosaic 1 and Southwest A-List map to AAdvantage Platinum. Delta Gold, United Premier Gold, JetBlue Mosaic 2 and Southwest A-List Preferred map to Platinum Pro. Delta Platinum and above, United Premier Platinum and above, and JetBlue Mosaic 3 and 4 map to Executive Platinum. Delta 360 and United Global Services members also land at Executive Platinum.

Those matched to Executive Platinum get the lounge sweetener: four Flagship Lounge single-visit passes.

The Flagship Lounge passes

The passes come with restrictions. AA's terms say they are deposited after approval. One section says within two to four weeks; another says within 30 days. Each pass is valid for 182 days from deposit. The holder cannot bring guests. Entry requires a same-day boarding pass for an eligible flight. Access depends on lounge capacity. The pass "does not include access to Flagship First Dining." Holders must be 21 or older at lounges with a self-service bar.

AA does not state a dollar value in the terms. View from the Wing puts the retail value at about $150 per pass, or $600 for the set. That figure has not been confirmed by AA.

Flagship Lounges operate at Chicago O'Hare, Dallas Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami and Philadelphia. The newest, in Philadelphia's Terminal A-West, opened in May 2025 at nearly 12,500 square feet, according to AA's newsroom. AA's premium lounges at New York JFK are shared with British Airways and carry different names. Not every AA hub has a Flagship Lounge, as the terms note.

The challenge that follows

Matched status is provisional. To keep it, members must earn Loyalty Points within a four-month challenge period. The thresholds are 10,000 points for Gold, 25,000 for Platinum, 50,000 for Platinum Pro and 100,000 for Executive Platinum. Points earned before approval do not count. Status earned this way lasts through March 31, 2028.

Citi/AAdvantage primary cardmembers get a boost. If their card membership began before the challenge ends, they receive status one tier higher than the challenge result. In practice, 50,000 Loyalty Points yields Executive Platinum for a cardmember. The normal requirement for Executive Platinum is 200,000 Loyalty Points. Cardmembers who fall short of every threshold still get Gold through March 31, 2027.

There is a catch. Anyone who registers "may not participate in any other Instant Status Pass promotion for a 2-year period." A traveler who takes this match cannot take another one from AA until late 2028.

What the lounge benefit is worth

Executive Platinum does not include Admirals Club membership. Members get lounge access on qualifying international itineraries through oneworld rules, and Admirals Club entry otherwise requires a membership or an eligible card. The program details are on the Admirals Club page. So the four Flagship passes are the only domestic lounge perk built into this offer.

Each pass must be used within six months of deposit, on a day the holder is flying AA or a oneworld partner from a Flagship Lounge airport. For a traveler based at a Flagship hub, that is easy. For someone flying out of a station with only an Admirals Club, the passes may expire unused. The passes also skip Flagship First Dining, the sit-down restaurant inside some Flagship Lounges.

Context

AA has been investing in its lounges this year. It announced its largest Admirals Club, in Charlotte, this month. The status match pairs that investment with a targeted push for corporate flyers who hold elite status elsewhere. Anyone who received the offer has until October 23 to decide.
