Delta’s new Delta One service starts at LAX: check the rollout before booking
The October 14 announcement brings new dining, preselection and amenities, but the full experience will reach routes at different times.

Delta announced a new Delta One service experience on October 14, starting on transoceanic departures from Los Angeles this fall and expanding across its global network in early 2027. The changes include dining, meal preselection, tableware and amenities. They are already drawing attention in aviation discussions on X.
The dates deserve as much attention as the menu. Delta lists November 3 for new Missoni kits and Dassai sake on Haneda routes, December 1 for Blanton's bourbon, and March and April 2027 for new international and domestic cocktails. The whole announcement is not a promise that every item is on every flight today.
Shop for the route, then check the service
Start with your actual departure, date and cabin. A flight sold as Delta One should still be compared on schedule, aircraft and price. A service refresh can be appealing without making a less convenient routing worthwhile. Ask Delta about the items that matter to you on the exact departure you are considering.
Our Delta airline directory and LAX schedule report provide wider context. Use the Los Angeles airport directory to plan the time before departure. A new onboard feature and an airport facility have different eligibility and opening details.
Choose a meal around the flight you want
Delta says entrée preselection now remains open until 18 hours before departure, six hours later than before. Set your reminder against the local departure time shown in the reservation. Check the available choices in your booking rather than selecting a dish from a press photograph.
For an overnight journey, think about the order of your evening. An airport meal, a long onboard dinner and a pre-arrival meal can all compete with the time you hoped to sleep. Decide which experience matters most. A light meal or a later breakfast ashore may suit one traveler, while another will want the full service.
The LAX food-lounge guide helps compare the airport side. The LAX shower guide addresses another use of the preflight window. Neither should pull time away from boarding or a route to the correct gate.
Keep lounge access separate from the onboard news
A new Delta One menu does not change the access attached to every travel card. Check your boarding pass, qualifying credential and the rules for the lounge you intend to enter. Read the Delta Reserve at LAX guide if a card is part of your plan.
For airport dining, the Sky Club food-to-go explanation covers an important practical limit. Plan to enjoy the lounge meal in the right place rather than counting on carrying a buffet lunch to the aircraft.
Compare points and cash without buying the photograph
If using miles, price the itinerary you can actually book. Points Frog’s flexible-date award guide explains how dates can affect the search. Keep the award-change guide nearby when deciding how much flexibility the reservation needs.
The new service gives Delta travelers several details to watch. The useful booking decision still combines a suitable flight, an acceptable price and the service confirmed for that date. Save the rollout dates, then judge the complete trip rather than assuming the most attractive part of today's announcement will appear tomorrow.
