Lufthansa's winter schedule starts at the end of October, and it brings a new Asian route and the airline's newest cabins to many more flights. Lufthansa laid out the plan in its winter network announcement. All the routes are on sale now.
New: Frankfurt to Kuala Lumpur
The biggest change is a new nonstop route from Frankfurt to Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. It starts October 25, 2026, with five flights a week.
Lufthansa will fly the route with the Boeing 787-9. The plane has 287 seats in three cabins, all with Lufthansa's newer Allegris interior. Lufthansa will use the same plane and cabin on a new Frankfurt–Chennai route starting in March 2027.
Lufthansa hasn't said which lounge its passengers will use in Kuala Lumpur.
Allegris comes to more routes
Allegris is the cabin Lufthansa introduced in 2024. It includes new seats in every class. Lufthansa says it was designed to give passengers in all classes a more personal trip, with new seat designs, better materials and newer technology.
This winter, Allegris will reach 11 more destinations. From Frankfurt, they are:
- Vancouver
- Houston
- Denver
- Atlanta
- Detroit
- San José, Costa Rica
- Seoul
- Kuala Lumpur
From Munich, they are:
- Singapore, from late October
- Washington, from March 2027
- Cape Town
Most of these are routes Lufthansa already flies. What changes is the aircraft and cabin. If you have a trip on one of them this winter, check your seat map to see if your flight has Allegris.
More flights on busy routes
Lufthansa is also adding weekly flights on several routes this winter:
- From Frankfurt: Rio de Janeiro, San José, Bogotá, Lagos and Hyderabad
- From Munich: São Paulo, Mexico City, Johannesburg and Washington
The release doesn't give exact frequencies for each.
Changes at other Lufthansa Group airlines
The group's other airlines are adding routes too:
- SWISS starts its first route to southern India, Zurich–Bengaluru. It also brings its new SWISS Senses cabin to Johannesburg and Shanghai on the Airbus A350.
- ITA Airways adds a seasonal route from Rome to Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. Its Rome–Houston and Rome–London Heathrow routes, added this summer, will keep flying this winter.
- Brussels Airlines keeps its new Brussels–Kilimanjaro route going through the winter. It flies once a week from October 28 to December 16, then twice a week from December 19 to February 21.
- Discover Airlines adds Frankfurt–Agadir and Munich–Fès in Morocco, plus a weekly Munich–Ivalo flight to Finnish Lapland from mid-December to mid-April.
- Eurowings adds Berlin–Kuusamo in Finland, a Berlin–Rome route from November 2, and Berlin–London Heathrow this winter.
Where to wait before you fly
Lufthansa's long-haul flights leave from its two hubs. In Frankfurt, Senator members and Star Alliance Gold members can use the Senator Lounge (A), rated 4.5 out of 5 by our users, or the Senator Lounge (B), rated 4.6. In Munich, the Senator Lounge (G) and the K/L Satellite Senator Lounge both have six showers.
Business class passengers can use Lufthansa's Business Lounges at both hubs. See the rules on our Lufthansa Business Lounge and Senator Lounge pages.
One change to note: since October 1, 2026, American Express Platinum and Centurion cards no longer get you into Lufthansa lounges. Amex and Lufthansa ended their lounge deal. See every Lufthansa lounge on our Lufthansa page.
