Who gets into an Etihad lounge

Etihad first and business passengers get into the Etihad lounges, and Etihad Guest Gold and Platinum members get in with one guest. The First Lounge in Abu Dhabi is for first class passengers and Platinum members only. In the United States, Etihad does not run its own rooms. It shares two Chase Sapphire Lounges by The Club, at JFK and Dulles, so Etihad flyers enter under the airline's cabin and status rules while Chase cardholders enter on their card.

The network is small right now. Etihad closed its Heathrow lounge in 2026 with a day's notice, and the replacement is not due until summer 2027, so it is not ranked. That leaves five open, photographed lounges, and the gap between the top three and the bottom two is wide.

1. Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club with Etihad Airways, New York JFK

The JFK lounge opened in 2024 on the mezzanine above gate A2 in Terminal 4, next door to the Centurion Lounge, and it is the best room Etihad passengers can use outside Abu Dhabi. It seats 250, has four showers and a craft cocktail bar, and scores five on food, drinks, service, seating, showers and views. Hours are 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. Etihad flyers get in on cabin or status. Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders get in on the card, but a plain Priority Pass membership stopped working here on August 15, 2026.

2. Etihad First Lounge, Abu Dhabi

The Etihad First Lounge is on the top floor of the three-level Etihad complex between Piers C and D in Terminal A, open 24 hours. It holds 150, has two showers, a craft cocktail bar and table-service dining, and it scores five on food, drinks, service, quiet, seating and views. Entry is for Etihad first class passengers and Etihad Guest Platinum members with one guest. The two-shower count is the only thing that looks thin for a first class flagship.

3. Etihad Business Lounge, Abu Dhabi

The Etihad Business Lounge fills the rest of that complex between gates C27 and D43, with 600 seats across three floors, 18 showers and a full bar. It is open around the clock and scores five for crowding, cleanliness, drinks, seating, views and Wi-Fi. Business passengers and Gold or Platinum members get in, with one guest for status holders. On a long overnight connection, this is where most Etihad flyers will end up, and it holds up well at scale.

4. Etihad Lounge (Chase Sapphire), Washington Dulles

The Dulles lounge is a two-level, 60-seat room beside gate A14 on Concourse A with direct boarding to the gate, open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. It has a full bar and one shower, but crowding, seating, restrooms and Wi-Fi all score two. It works as a quiet place to wait before the Abu Dhabi flight. It does not work as a place to spend three hours. The same Chase rules apply as at JFK.

5. Etihad U.S. Preclearance Lounge, Abu Dhabi

The U.S. Preclearance Lounge opened in late 2024 steps from the Customs and Border Protection facility in Terminal A, with direct boarding on some flights. It is open in two blocks, 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and 11 p.m. to 3:30 a.m., matching the US departures. It serves Residence, first and business passengers and Platinum and Emerald members bound for the US, and access can be bought. Food and seating score two, so clear preclearance late and spend your time in the main lounges instead.

Which one to pick on a connection

In Abu Dhabi the answer is simple: use the main Business or First lounge for as long as you can, then go through US preclearance as late as the airline allows and treat the preclearance lounge as a waiting room. In New York the Sapphire Lounge is good enough to arrive early for. At Dulles, eat before you go in.
