Stuck in Doha between flights? Hamad International Airport is offering free 20-minute recovery sessions with red-light therapy mats, right in its indoor tropical garden. But only until October 25.

What it is

Hamad International Airport (HIA) opened the pop-up in early September in The Orchard, the garden at the heart of Concourse C. The Qatar Tribune calls it the Travel Recovery Studio. Qatar's state news agency, QNA, calls it the Vitality and Wellness Studio. It is the same space.

Each session lasts 20 minutes and is led by an instructor. According to the reports, sessions include:

  • Guided breathing.
  • Gentle stretching.
  • Time on red-light therapy mats.

The idea is to help travelers reset after a long flight or before the next one.

The key details

  • Where: The Orchard, Concourse C, Hamad International Airport.
  • When: Now until October 25, 2026. The studio opened on September 6.
  • Hours: Sunday to Thursday, 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM Doha time.
  • Cost: Free.
  • Who: Adults 18 and over, subject to space.

Note the days. The studio is not open on Fridays or Saturdays, so plan around that if your layover falls at the end of the week.

Where it is in the airport

The Orchard opened in 2022 and is one of the airport's best-known spaces. It covers about 6,000 square meters and has more than 300 trees and 35,000 plants, according to the reports. Sculptures by the artists Gillie and Marc sit among the trees, and the garden has recently added koi.

You do not need lounge access to get there. The Orchard is open to all passengers in the transit area.

Nearby lounges

If you have lounge access, you are in a good spot. The reports list Qatar Airways' Al Mourjan Business Lounge, The Garden among the spaces near The Orchard. Qatar's Al Mourjan won Skytrax's best business lounge award this year, as we covered in our Skytrax story.

The reports also point to other premium spaces nearby, including the Louis Vuitton Lounge by Yannick Alléno and the Dior Spa.

For a full list of what is open, see our guide to Hamad International lounges.

How to fit it into a layover

  • Check that your layover falls between 4:30 PM and 7:30 PM, Sunday to Thursday.
  • Leave time for walking. Hamad International is a large airport.
  • Since spaces are limited, arrive early in the window if you can.
  • Keep an eye on your boarding time. A 20-minute session plus travel to your gate can add up.

Why airports are doing this

Long-haul travel is hard on the body. Many airports and lounges now offer spas, quiet rooms and wellness spaces. What makes this one stand out is that it is free and open to every adult in the transit area, not just premium passengers.

It is also only a pop-up. HIA has not said whether it will return after October 25.
