Qatar Airways' Al Mourjan wins Skytrax best business lounge 2026

If you connect through Doha in business class, the lounge you are likely to use has just been named the best of its kind. Qatar Airways won four prizes at the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2026, and one of them went to the Al Mourjan Business Lounge – The Garden at Hamad International Airport. The airline said in a release dated Sept. 18 that it also kept its 5-Star Airline rating.

The four awards were:

• World's Best Business Class, for the 13th time
• World's Best Business Class Lounge, for the eighth time
• Best Airline in the Middle East, for the 14th time
• World's Best Onboard Wi-Fi, which Qatar Airways says no airline had won before

The lounge that won

The lounge award went to Al Mourjan Business Lounge (The Garden). Qatar Airways describes it as a calm space that looks out over The ORCHARD, the indoor garden at the heart of Hamad International. The airline says the design is built around comfort, wellness and nature.

The release says nothing new about the lounge itself. There is no word on an expansion, a new menu or a change to who can get in. This is a prize for the lounge as it stands today.

Doha has a second Al Mourjan lounge, too: Al Mourjan Business Lounge (South). Both score 4.6 out of 5 overall on Lounge Frog. In general, the Al Mourjan lounges are for Qatar Airways business class passengers and for oneworld elites with Sapphire or Emerald status on a qualifying departure. The rules vary by ticket and status, so check the access details on each lounge page before you fly.

Qsuite wins again

Qsuite, the airline's business class seat, took World's Best Business Class for a 13th time. Qatar Airways pitches it as a private suite where you can work, relax or spend time with the people you travel with.

The airline also points to its Qsuite Quad layout. Four center seats can be joined into one space by lowering movable privacy panels. A family or a group of four can then eat, work or talk together. The release gives no new seat details or routes.

In a separate release on Sept. 16, Qatar Airways described its newer Qsuite Next Gen, which it showed at the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai. That version adds 4K OLED screens, digital dividers and a "Make My Bed" button that asks the crew for turn-down service. That release did not name routes or dates either.

A first Wi-Fi award

Qatar Airways says it is the first airline to win World's Best Onboard Wi-Fi. It credits Starlink. The airline says it now flies the world's largest Starlink-equipped widebody fleet, with more than 150 jets fitted. It also says more than 25 million passengers have connected onboard, across more than 96,000 flights.

For you, that means a good chance of fast Wi-Fi on a long-haul Qatar flight. The release does not say which aircraft or routes still lack Starlink. A flight on a narrowbody jet may not have it yet.

More Middle East flights

What the CEO said

Group CEO Hamad Al-Khater thanked the airline's roughly 60,000 staff and noted it had been a hard year. "These awards belong to our people," he said. He also pointed out that Qatar Airways turns 30 next year. He congratulated oneworld, which Skytrax named the World's Best Airline Alliance for 2026, and thanked passengers for their loyalty.

Other Skytrax lounge winners

Qatar Airways was not the only lounge winner this year. Cathay Pacific's redesigned The Wing, First in Hong Kong was named the best first class lounge, as we covered in our story on the Cathay win. Star Alliance's lounge at Paris-CDG took the alliance lounge award for a third year.

Keep in mind that Skytrax awards are based on a passenger survey. They tell you what fliers liked over the past year. They can't promise a quiet seat when a big bank of connections lands in Doha.
