Qatar Airways has signed a memorandum of understanding with Priority Pass. Under it, companies in the airline's Beyond Business program will be able to redeem Qrewards for entry to more than 1,900 Priority Pass lounges, according to Qatar's Sept. 2 announcement.
Who this is for
Beyond Business is Qatar's program for companies, not its Privilege Club for individual travelers. Businesses earn Qrewards from employee travel and can already spend them on flights, upgrades, Privilege Club tier offers and priority baggage. Priority Pass lounges are a new use for those rewards.
What we don't know yet
An MoU is an agreement in principle, and Qatar says the benefit will arrive "soon." The release doesn't give:
- a start date
- how many Qrewards a lounge visit costs
- any visit limits
We'll update this story when those details come out.
Why it matters
Qatar's own Al Mourjan lounges in Doha are among the most highly rated business lounges anywhere. Outside its hub, though, Qatar has few lounges of its own. Priority Pass covers 865 airports, which helps corporate travelers on the outbound leg. That matters most at airports where Qatar uses contract lounges or where a traveler is in economy.
