Who gets into a Qatar Airways lounge
Qatar Airways runs two kinds of lounge. In Doha, business passengers use Al Mourjan and first class passengers use Al Safwa. Abroad, the airline runs Premium Lounges that mix business and first in one room. A Qatar Airways business or first ticket gets you in anywhere, except on Business Lite fares. Privilege Club Platinum and Gold members and oneworld Emerald and Sapphire members get in with one guest when flying Qatar Airways or another oneworld airline. Economy flyers with status at Heathrow are sent to a separate Frequent Flyer Lounge rather than the Premium Lounge.
We rank only lounges with a verified photo on file. The two Al Mourjan lounges in Doha, the South and the Garden, are both rated 4.6 but have no photo yet, so they are not in this list. Neither is the Singapore Premium Lounge. That leaves five.
1. Qatar Airways Premium Lounge, Paris
The Qatar Airways Premium Lounge in Paris is the best Qatar lounge outside Doha by our scores, and by some distance. It opened in 2017, was refreshed in 2023, and holds about 200 people in Terminal 1 with views toward the Eiffel Tower on a clear day. There is a full bar, two showers and a la carte dining, and it scores five on food, coffee, drinks, quiet and crowding. One catch: it sits after passport control but before security screening, so leave time to reach your gate. Hours are 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.
2. Al Safwa First Lounge, Doha
Al Safwa is the lounge that looks like a museum, with a reflecting pool and a ceiling that seems to go on forever. It is open around the clock on Level 3 of the main terminal, up from the Duty Free Plaza near the Lamp Bear. There are 20 showers, nap rooms, a craft cocktail bar and table-service dining, and service, food and coffee all score five. Entry is for Qatar Airways and oneworld first class passengers and Privilege Club Platinum members flying Qatar business. You can also pay for a visit. Our seating score is low only because the hall feels empty rather than cozy.
3. Qatar Airways Premium Lounge, London Heathrow
The Heathrow Premium Lounge is a 127-seat room by gate 1 in Terminal 4, open 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. It has four showers, a full bar, a staffed dining area and apron views that score five. It is quiet and rarely crowded because the entry rules are strict: business and first passengers only, and no Business Lite. Status holders in economy go next door. Reviewers say it is due a refresh, but the food and calm still hold up.
4. Qatar Airways Bangkok Premium Lounge
The Bangkok Premium Lounge is on Level 3 of Concourse D at Suvarnabhumi, close to the gates Qatar uses. It has a full bar and a hot buffet but no showers, and it scores five for quiet. Privilege Club Platinum and Gold members and oneworld Emerald and Sapphire members get in on a same-day Qatar Airways flight. Our rating here is editorial and based on published facilities and reviews, not a firsthand visit.
5. Qatar Airways Frequent Flyer Lounge, London Heathrow
The Frequent Flyer Lounge opened in 2022 above the Premium Lounge, sharing its gate 1 entrance in Terminal 4. It is small, about 60 seats, with a full bar but no showers. It exists so that oneworld Emerald and Sapphire members and Privilege Club Silver and above can use a Qatar lounge in London when flying economy on any oneworld airline. Status entry allows one guest. Service scores five, but cleanliness and seating sit at three, which is why it lands last.
Which one to pick on a connection
In Doha, a first class ticket means Al Safwa and there is no real decision to make. Business passengers use Al Mourjan, which we will add to this ranking once a photo is on file. In London, the Premium Lounge is the better room, but only if your fare qualifies. If you are an elite in economy, the Frequent Flyer Lounge is still a better bet than most of Terminal 4. In Paris, clear security early because the lounge is on the wrong side of it.
