Qatar Airways is back in Philadelphia. Its first flight from Doha landed at Philadelphia International on August 1, 2026, and the route now runs every day. The plane is an Airbus A350-900, and Qatar says it has Qsuite business class and Starlink Wi-Fi. If you want to fly it in business, the main question is where you wait before the late-evening flight home. Qatar has not said, but the lounges near PHL's international gates are good ones.
The schedule
Qatar first announced the return on June 10, then marked the first flight in a release on August 4. Both say the route is daily, and Philadelphia is Qatar's 14th gateway in North America.
The times in the August release are:
- QR727 leaves Doha at 7:30 a.m. and lands in Philadelphia at 2:30 p.m.
- QR728 leaves Philadelphia at 9:30 p.m. and lands in Doha at 5:00 p.m. the next day.
The June release listed the Doha departure as 8:00 a.m., landing at 3:05 p.m. The later times are the ones Qatar used once the route was flying, but check your own booking. The return time did not change.
That schedule suits connections. The evening flight from Philadelphia reaches Doha in time for onward flights to Asia, Africa, India and the rest of the Gulf. Qatar says the route links to more than 160 destinations. In the other direction, Qatar points to its oneworld partner American Airlines for onward flights inside the US. PHL is a major American hub, so a Doha arrival can connect to many American domestic flights.
You can book at qatarairways.com or in the Qatar Airways app. Privilege Club members earn Avios on the route.
The plane and the seats
Both releases name the A350-900 and say it has Qsuite. Qsuite is Qatar's business class suite, with a door and seats in the middle that can be joined for couples or groups.
There is one catch. Qatar flies more than one version of the A350-900, and not all of them have Qsuite. Upgraded Points notes that fewer than half of Qatar's A350-900s have it. Qatar is marketing this route as a Qsuite route, so that is the plan. Still, check the seat map before you book, and again close to the day you fly.
Starlink Wi-Fi is the other selling point. In June, Qatar said more than 140 of its planes had it. That matters on a flight of more than 12 hours each way.
Where to wait at PHL
Neither release names a lounge in Philadelphia, and neither says which terminal Qatar uses. Qatar has no lounge of its own at PHL. Its famous lounges, such as the Al Mourjan Business Lounge, are in Doha. So we can't tell you which lounge Qatar sends its business class passengers to.
What we can tell you is what's there. Terminal A-West is PHL's international terminal, and four lounges sit there:
- The American Airlines Flagship Lounge opened in 2025 on the mezzanine between gates A15 and A16. It has six showers and a cocktail bar, and it is open until 10 p.m. Our records list it as open to oneworld Emerald members and to premium cabin travelers on a qualifying oneworld flight. Qatar is in oneworld, but Qatar itself has not said its passengers will be sent here.
- The Admirals Club in A-West shares an entrance area with the Flagship Lounge. It is also open until 10 p.m., has two showers, and takes Admirals Club members and oneworld Sapphire and Emerald members.
- The British Airways Galleries Lounge near gate A14 takes oneworld elites too. But it is open from 3:15 p.m. to 8 p.m. for BA's London flight. It closes about 90 minutes before QR728 leaves, so it is a poor fit unless its hours change.
- The Centurion Lounge near gate A14 is for American Express Platinum and Centurion cardholders. It closes on October 16, 2026, for a large expansion, and Amex expects it to reopen by the end of 2027. We covered that plan in our story on Amex's new lounges.
For a Qatar business class passenger with no other status, the American lounges in A-West look like the most likely home. Ask at check-in which lounge your boarding pass gets you into. If you hold oneworld Sapphire or Emerald status, the Admirals Club is open to you whatever cabin you fly.
What else to know
This is a return, not a new route: both releases call it a resumption. The new service adds to Qatar's US East Coast map next to Boston, New York and Washington.
Qatar's other North American gateways are Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Montreal, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Toronto and Washington.
