JetBlue started flying between Fort Lauderdale and Cali, Colombia, on October 15. The daily route is the airline's fourth in Colombia, and its second new one there this month, according to JetBlue's announcement.
Cali joins Cartagena, Medellín and Barranquilla on JetBlue's map. The Barranquilla flights from Fort Lauderdale also began earlier in October.
The schedule
JetBlue flies the route once a day on an Airbus A320. Local times, which may change:
- Flight 1535 leaves Fort Lauderdale at 10:05 a.m. and lands in Cali at 12:52 p.m.
- Flight 1540 leaves Cali at 2:10 p.m. and lands in Fort Lauderdale at 7:00 p.m.
Cali's airport is Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International. The midday timing means no very early start in either direction, and the return lands in Fort Lauderdale in the evening.
Launch fares
To mark the launch, JetBlue is selling one-way fares from Fort Lauderdale to Cali from $139 in standard economy and $239 in EvenMore, its extra-legroom seats. The catch is short. You must book by October 16 on jetblue.com, and the fares are for Tuesday and Wednesday travel between January 19 and March 9, 2027. Taxes are included, but bag fees and other extras are not.
"The addition of Cali marks another important milestone in JetBlue's continued growth in Colombia," said Daniel Shurz, JetBlue's senior vice president of revenue, network and enterprise planning.
No Mint on this route
The A320 does not have Mint, JetBlue's lie-flat business class. The best seats are EvenMore, which gives extra legroom but no lounge access. JetBlue's own BlueHouse lounges are at New York JFK and Boston, so a Fort Lauderdale to Cali trip will not get you into one.
Lounges at each end
At Fort Lauderdale, our directory lists an Escape Lounge, a Delta Sky Club and a United Club. Fort Lauderdale has several terminals, so check that a lounge is in your terminal and past your checkpoint before you count on it. The Sky Club and United Club require a flight on those airlines or their partners, so they will not help on a JetBlue ticket.
In Cali, we list three lounges that take Priority Pass: the Avianca Lounge Cali, the Consorcio Occidente Lounge and the Sala VIP Lounge Las Américas. Our ratings for all three are modest. Check each lounge page for its location, since a lounge on the domestic side will not help on an international departure.
Why JetBlue keeps adding Colombia
Fort Lauderdale is one of JetBlue's main bases, and the airline has been adding Latin American routes there. Two new Colombian cities in one month shows how much weight JetBlue now puts on that market. A daily flight also gives Cali travelers another low-fare choice to South Florida.
My take
A daily midday flight is about as easy as international travel gets from South Florida. The $139 launch fare is a strong deal if your dates fit the narrow window. Just do not plan on a lounge at either end. Eat before you get to the airport, or carry a Priority Pass for Cali.
