Lounges

A Qantas lounge invitation needs a flight link. Do it before the 24-hour deadline.

Check the invitation type, eligible flight and guest rules before travel. Having an invitation in your account is only the first step.

A lounge invitation can look like a finished airport plan when it appears in your account. With Qantas, there is another task to complete before the day of travel.

Qantas' invitation instructions say to link the invitation to an eligible flight at least 24 hours before departure. It also says an invitation is for a single visit and does not include guests or children. Keep those limits separate from the benefit that placed the invitation in your account.

Confirm the invitation before selecting the visit

Check its expiration date and the type of flight it can be used with. A trip that earns an invitation and a trip that can use it are not necessarily the same thing.

Look at the flight number and operating airline. Follow the eligibility instructions attached to the invitation rather than assuming any booking that involves Qantas will qualify.

Our Qantas airline guide helps you compare the carrier, but the operator's invitation terms govern this particular benefit.

Link it while there is time to fix a problem

Make the link before the deadline, then keep the confirmation email available. Qantas tells travelers to present that confirmation with the boarding pass at entry.

If the system does not show the intended flight or invitation, resolve it before travel. A few minutes spent checking at home can prevent a much less useful conversation at the lounge desk.

Set a reminder when you decide to use the benefit. Do not leave the task until you begin airport check-in.

Choose a lounge you can reach

An invitation is most useful when its lounge fits your departure route. Check the terminal, opening hours and the walk to your gate.

For a Sydney domestic trip, use the Sydney airport directory and Qantas Club Domestic page. Do not assume the Domestic Business Lounge or International Business Lounge accepts the same invitation.

Plan for every traveler

If you travel with a companion, work out their access before linking yours. A single-person invitation should not become an assumed family booking.

Compare the cost and convenience of separate entry with the option of staying together in the terminal. A free visit for one person may be less valuable if the group wants a shared meal.

Our family lounge guide covers practical considerations beyond admission.

Recheck the plan when the flight changes

Read Qantas' instructions about unlinking and changed flights. Keep the invitation and reservation details together so that you can see what needs attention.

Do not assume a self-made flight change leaves every linked benefit exactly where it was. Check the account and ask Qantas if the result is unclear.

Finish the door checks

Clothing still matters. Our Qantas dress guide explains the published standard and why suitable shoes should remain in reach.

An invitation can make a flight day more pleasant when the steps are completed in the right order. Confirm eligibility, link the flight, save the email and select a reachable room. The benefit then becomes a usable visit rather than an unfinished item in your account.
