Qatar Airways' next business class seat is real, you can sit in it, and it has a "Make My Bed" button. You just can't book it yet.

Qatar showed Qsuite Next Gen at Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai from September 14 to 17. The airline's post on X invited visitors to "Explore Qsuite Next Gen at our #ATM2026 pavilion." Its video clips of the seat drew tens of thousands of views.

What's new in the seat

According to Qatar's official release for the show, published by Zawya, the new Qsuite brings:

  • 4K OLED screens that can move.
  • A Quad Suite for groups of up to four people.
  • A Companion Suite for two people traveling together.
  • Privacy controls you can adjust, with dividers controlled digitally.
  • A "Make My Bed" button to set up the bed.

The stand at ATM was in Dubai World Trade Centre, Sheikh Saeed Hall 2.

Business Insider toured the seat and added more detail in a review syndicated by AOL on October 5. It lists a PIN-locked drawer, USB-C and wireless charging, and bigger beds. It says the Companion Suite pairs seats set on a diagonal, with one facing forward and one facing back.

So when can you fly it?

This is the catch. Qatar first showed Qsuite Next Gen at the Farnborough Airshow in 2024. At the time, it was planned for the Boeing 777-9 by 2025, Business Insider says. It still hasn't flown.

The 777-9 has been delayed for years. Business Insider reports that Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg says the jet is on track for 2027.

Qatar's own timing points to next summer. On September 10, The Peninsula reported that Qatar Airways CEO Hamad Ali Al-Khater listed A350-1000s, 777-9s and the next Qsuite among plans for 138 new aircraft over five years, with the new Qsuite slated for next summer. Euronews quoted him as saying it is due in summer 2027.

A different plane first?

There is one twist. Simple Flying reports that Qatar plans to launch the seat on an Airbus A350-1000 first, rather than wait for the 777-9. It points to the second half of 2026, but Simple Flying itself calls that a reported target, not a confirmed schedule. Qatar has not named a launch route or a first flight date.

So for now, treat any date as a goal. The safest read is that the first Next Gen flights are still months away.

What it costs to fly Qatar business today

Business Insider found round-trip business class fares between New York and Doha at about $4,000 for April, and more than $9,000 at peak times.

Until Next Gen shows up, those fares buy the current Qsuite. On the ground, Qatar's Al Mourjan won Skytrax's best business lounge award for 2026, as we covered in our Skytrax story.

Will the lounges change too?

Nothing in Qatar's release ties the new seat to new lounges. Business class passengers in Doha use the Al Mourjan Business Lounge (South) and The Garden, both at Hamad International.

The bottom line

  • Qsuite Next Gen is finished enough to show in public.
  • Qatar's CEO says it should arrive in summer 2027.
  • Simple Flying says the A350-1000 may get it before the 777-9.
  • No route or date is set yet.
