The Centurion Lounge at Salt Lake City International Airport placed first in Condé Nast Traveler's 2026 US airport-lounge reader ranking. The results published October 6 gave it a score of 91.73.

Chase's Sapphire Lounge at LaGuardia and the Alaska Lounge at Seattle followed in second and third place. This is a reader-voted award, rather than a Lounge Frog inspection or a universal measure of which lounge will suit every trip.

For travelers flying through Salt Lake City, the useful next question is access. Winning a reader poll does not change the lounge's admission rules or make it available to every passenger in the airport.

Check the card before the ranking

American Express's official Centurion network page lists eligible Platinum, Centurion and Delta SkyMiles Reserve cardmembers and eligible guests as the access groups. It says Centurion Lounge memberships are not sold separately.

Those groups do not all have identical conditions. Before leaving for the airport, check the terms for your precise card and country of issue. If you are relying on a guest benefit, verify that entitlement separately from your own entry.

A premium airline ticket or a generic lounge-network membership should not be treated as proof of Centurion access. Use the benefit attached to your actual card, then check that you can meet the travel requirements on the day.

Timing matters

Amex's current network page says eligible Platinum and Delta Reserve cardmembers may enter US Centurion Lounges within three hours of the departure time on an eligible same-day confirmed boarding pass. It also specifies a five-hour window before a connecting flight during a layover.

The page says a same-day round trip is not treated as a connecting itinerary. It also excludes visits after landing unless the traveler has a qualifying same-day connection.

These details can matter more than an award score. Arriving very early for a flight does not necessarily create a longer lounge visit, and a card in your wallet does not make an arrivals stop eligible.

Plan around your gate

The official Salt Lake City lounge page is the starting point for location and lounge details. Check it alongside your boarding pass, especially if your gate changes before departure.

Allow time to walk from the lounge to your gate. A meal or work session is only useful when it fits around boarding. If you are on a tight connection, prioritize the route between flights before adding a lounge visit.

For a group, confirm access for everyone before choosing where to spend the connection. One eligible traveler does not establish that every companion enters free or that guest admission is available under every card's rules.

Use the award as a starting point

A reader ranking can flag a lounge worth investigating. Your own choice still depends on the terminal, available time, admission rules and the facilities you need.

Use our Salt Lake City airport directory to compare the lounges relevant to your departure. Check live access terms again before travel, since an October award does not freeze a card policy for future trips.

The new result gives SLC's Centurion Lounge a prominent place in the US lounge conversation. For readers who qualify and have enough time, it is a useful reason to look more closely at the airport's options.
