Singapore Airlines will close its SilverKris Lounge at Taipei Taoyuan Airport on November 1, 2026. The airline posted the advisory on October 5. It cites redevelopment work at Terminal 2. From that date, eligible passengers will be sent to the Plaza Premium Lounge on Level 4 of the Terminal 2 departure hall. That lounge, known as The Terroir, finished a five-month refurbishment in late September.
What the advisory says
The SIA notice is short. It says the lounge "will cease operations from 1 November 2026." The stated reason is "redevelopment works at Taipei Taoyuan International Airport Terminal 2." The advisory gives no reopening date. It also does not use the word permanent.
From November 1, three groups will be invited to the Plaza Premium Lounge instead: eligible Business Class passengers, PPS Club members and KrisFlyer Elite Gold members. The offer applies to Singapore Airlines-operated flights departing Taipei. SIA says "access eligibility and entitlements will remain unchanged." The last day of operation is Saturday, October 31, 2026.
The lounge that is closing
The Taipei SilverKris Lounge opened in 2012. According to Mainly Miles, it was the oldest and smallest lounge in the SilverKris network. It closed for about three and a half years during the pandemic and reopened in September 2023. It was the last overseas SilverKris Lounge to return. It never received the airline's "home away from home" redesign. Its hours were limited, from 8:20 a.m. to 5:45 p.m., matched to SIA's afternoon departures to Singapore.
This is the second overseas SilverKris Lounge to close in 2026. The Manila lounge at NAIA Terminal 3 ceased operations in June, also because of terminal redevelopment. Mainly Miles counts eight overseas SilverKris Lounges remaining after Taipei: Bangkok, Brisbane, Hong Kong, London, Melbourne, Perth, Seoul and Sydney. Lounge Frog's ranking of the SilverKris network covers the photographed ones.
Where passengers go instead
The SIA advisory names only "Plaza Premium Lounge, Terminal 2, Level 4, Departure Hall." Plaza Premium runs two lounges in Terminal 2. Mainly Miles reads the description as The Terroir in Zone A, the larger of the two. Plaza Premium's own lounge page lists The Terroir at about 11,000 square feet on the fourth floor of Terminal 2. It opens daily from 5:00 a.m. to midnight. That is a far longer window than the SilverKris Lounge offered.
Plaza Premium Group completed a refurbishment of all four of its Taoyuan lounges in late September, according to a company release carried by The Moodie Davitt Report. The Terroir gained private rest suites developed with mattress maker Sealy, in single and double configurations with hotel-style bedding. The lounge page lists live-cooking counters, showers and bookable private relaxation suites. Executive Chef Russ Wang's menu includes Taiwanese Sha Cha Beef Noodles made with Yilan Sanxing scallions, Shredded Chicken Rice with Fried Shallots and Taiwanese Sticky Rice. A dish from Bib Gourmand-listed Moon Moon Food is also on the menu.
One caveat. The Terroir is a common-use lounge. It accepts Priority Pass members, paying walk-ins from TWD 1,500 and passengers of other airlines. It may feel busier than a dedicated airline lounge. Mainly Miles reports that Business Class passengers will get a dedicated zone with its own drinks bar, though hot food stays in the main buffet. SIA has not confirmed that detail.
Guest rules and Star Alliance options
SIA says entitlements do not change. Business Class passengers do not get a guest. According to Mainly Miles, PPS Club, KrisFlyer Elite Gold and other Star Alliance Gold members may bring one guest on the same flight. That reading comes from SIA's general lounge rules, not from the advisory itself. Program details are on the SilverKris Lounge and Star Alliance Gold pages.
Mainly Miles also flags a knock-on effect for Solitaire PPS Club members flying Scoot. Their Scoot lounge benefit has only applied at SIA's own SilverKris Lounges. With no SilverKris Lounge in Taipei, that benefit would disappear there. SIA has not confirmed this.
Eligible passengers also have EVA Air's Star Alliance lounges in Terminal 2 as an alternative. The Infinity serves Business Class from 4:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. The Star and The Club serve Star Alliance Gold members. Mainly Miles notes that The Club closes in the middle of the day.
What this means for travelers
For most SIA passengers, the practical change is modest. The replacement lounge is bigger, newer and open far longer. The trade-off is a shared space. Travelers who value quiet may prefer EVA Air's lounges. Those who want a nap can book one of The Terroir's new rest suites. Priority Pass members, meanwhile, will now share their Taipei lounge with Singapore Airlines' premium passengers; see the Priority Pass program page.
