Singapore Airlines is closing its SilverKris Lounge at Taipei Taoyuan Terminal 2 on November 1, 2026. The airline cites redevelopment works at Terminal 2, and from that date eligible passengers will be sent to the Plaza Premium Lounge on Level 4 of the Terminal 2 departure hall. The MileLion

It is the second SilverKris closure this year, after Manila in June. MileLion counts eight SilverKris lounges left outside Singapore: Bangkok, Brisbane, Hong Kong, London, Melbourne, Perth, Seoul and Sydney. SIA has not announced any plan to return to Taipei.

Who keeps lounge access, and where

According to MileLion's report, the Plaza Premium arrangement covers the same groups who use the SilverKris Lounge today:

  • Business Class passengers on Singapore Airlines
  • PPS Club and Solitaire PPS members
  • KrisFlyer Elite Gold members
  • Star Alliance Gold members, and Virgin Australia Velocity Beyond, Platinum and Gold members

Guests must be travelling on the same flight as the eligible passenger.

Until October 31, the SilverKris Lounge keeps its current hours of 08:20 to 17:45 daily.

One detail to check: Taoyuan has several Plaza Premium lounges, and MileLion notes the notice does not say exactly which one SIA has contracted beyond "Terminal 2, Level 4, Departure Hall". Our guide covers Plaza Premium Lounge The Terroir, which is in Terminal 2, Zone A, on the fourth floor. Confirm at check-in which lounge your invitation is for.

The group that loses out: Solitaire PPS on Scoot

The clearest loser is the Solitaire PPS member flying Scoot. MileLion explains that this benefit depends on a SilverKris lounge being available, so when the lounge goes, the access goes with it. In practice the benefit was already narrow. Of Scoot's three daily Taipei departures, only the 4:20 p.m. flight leaves early enough to use a lounge that closes at 17:45.

What to do instead

  • Star Alliance Gold members may find a better option than the contract lounge. EVA Air, a Star Alliance member, runs The Infinity Lounge and The Star Lounge in Terminal 2, and both appear in our database with Star Alliance Gold access. Policies can change after an airline loses its own lounge, so check eligibility on your boarding pass before you walk over.
  • Business Class and PPS passengers should follow the airline's instructions to Plaza Premium. A contract lounge is a step down from a dedicated SilverKris space, but it removes the awkward daytime-only hours: our Terroir listing shows 05:00 to midnight.
  • If you hold Priority Pass through a card, our guide lists The Terroir on that network too. This is a useful fallback if a companion is not on your flight.

Our take

Closing a lounge because the airport is redeveloping the space is understandable. The pattern is harder to ignore. With Taipei following Manila, SIA's overseas lounge network is getting smaller, and for regional routes the airline seems content to hand premium passengers to third-party operators. That is fine for a short daytime flight. It is less fine for PPS members who pay for the SIA experience on the ground as well as in the air.

The decision on Scoot is the sharper edge. If SIA wants Solitaire PPS to mean something on its low-cost subsidiary, extending the Plaza Premium arrangement to those members would cost little. It has not done so.
