SWISS is building new lounges at its home airport. New SWISS Business and Senator lounges will open at Zurich Airport's Dock B in the first quarter of 2027. They replace the current lounges in Dock A, according to the airline's September 16 announcement.

The move is part of a larger change at Zurich. The airport plans to replace Dock A, so SWISS needs new space nearby.

What's being built

Each lounge will take up a full floor of a new building on the south side of Dock B. Together, they will cover about 2,600 square meters (about 28,000 square feet). SWISS says that is roughly 20% more space than its current Dock A lounges.

According to SWISS, both lounges will have:

  • More seats and open layouts with lots of natural light
  • About 20 fully soundproof workstations in total
  • Separate areas for working and for relaxing
  • Large windows facing the apron, the runways and the Alps

The Senator Lounge gets a few extras. A bar will run along the window front, with a 180-degree view of Runway 34, the apron and the mountains. There will also be a wine humidor and a room for aging selected cheeses and cured meats.

The bus gates will be right below the new building. For travelers whose flights board by bus, that should mean a shorter walk from the lounge to the gate.

What closes

When the new lounges open, three lounges in Dock A will close:

The SWISS First Lounge (A) stays where it is for now. SWISS expects to move its First and HON Circle Lounge from Dock A to Dock B in 2028. It says it will share details later.

SWISS hasn't said whether the new lounges will have showers, or how many. That's worth watching, since the current Dock A Business and Senator lounges have four each.

Who gets in

SWISS hasn't announced any change to access rules. Today, the Business and Senator lounges at Zurich follow the usual Lufthansa Group and Star Alliance rules:

  • SWISS Business Lounge: for business class passengers on SWISS, Lufthansa Group and Star Alliance flights, plus Miles & More Frequent Travellers and Star Alliance Gold members
  • SWISS Senator Lounge: for Senator and HON Circle members and Star Alliance Gold members

The other Zurich lounges

SWISS also runs lounges in Dock E, where most of its long-haul flights to places outside the Schengen area leave. Those lounges are among the best-rated in its network on Lounge Frog:

The announcement doesn't mention any changes to the Dock E lounges.

A busy summer in Zurich

SWISS shared the news alongside a look back at summer 2026. It said operations stayed largely stable despite delays and heavy traffic at Zurich. The busiest day was August 2, the day after Swiss National Day, when about 122,000 passengers passed through the airport.

The airline also confirmed that its newest long-haul cabin, SWISS Senses, comes to the Zurich–Johannesburg route and some Zurich–Shanghai flights from late October.
